There is a difference between an instruction to "cast a spell" (Havengul Lich) and an instruction to do so "without paying its mana cost" (Counterlash). Several cards already tell you to cast a spell during the resolution of some effect, a timing abnormality because you don't have priority at that time; the only difference here is that the timing is moved up into the window of paying costs.
The only creature with the same ability is also green: Emperor Crocodile.
Blood Feud? Or perhaps Rivals' Duel.
You asked on the front page if "someone can let me know what's up with being able to booster draft". Multiverse doesn't support actually drafting boosters, but it will create sample boosters from your set to give you a feel for what it's like.
You can export a cardset in a variety of formats; I don't know the details of what format Magic Workstation or other programs want their cards in, but one of the export formats ought to be close to what you need.
Are we sure this doesn't do crazy things, like let you cast Decree of Savagery for free? I'd think it would work a bit better if this said "When you cast an instant or sorcery"... but that's just one man's opinion.
Wowsers. Yeah, this is extremely strong.
Instants and sorceries? That'll raise some eyebrows. It's generally blue and red that get to play in this space. I mean, it's not like a given set can't change that; my set Sienira's Facets had black as the major sorcery colour and the minor instant colour (over red and after blue, respectively). But I acknowledged that was somewhat unusual.
The rules do indeed allow activating the equip ability, as long as the creature can be targeted. (So you can't go infinite with Lightning Greaves+Daru Spiritualist unless you have another creature.) Technically the equipment doesn't move (which doesn't matter much, but matters with things like Grafted Wargear).
There's Tethered Griffin and Barbarian Outcast, but I can't find one for "other creatures". You may be thinking of Jackal Familiar or Mogg Flunkies.
That's really not what Walking Corpse was about, though. It was a controversial move, and I believe MaRo has stated it's not meant to be shifting the baseline permanently, in the same way that Lightning Bolt's reprinting didn't mean the baseline was no longer Shock. See also the GDS2 multiple-choice test where MaRo says a 2/2 for is less likely than one for .
Eternal Witness dropping a rarity, gaining a toughness, and picking up some modicum of political power? Instant chase common.
changed from 'instant or sorcery' to 'card'
Good points, I was tired when I costed this originally, but I think I'm going to move this to 3G and returning Instants and sorceries to fit the theme. Green has a history of returning any card from your yard to hand, so the clause is very reasonable when considered in the context of the world.
Exactly what I was thinking, he fits in well with my idea of small critters which are still effective late game.
Death's Duet, Morbid Plunder, Urborg Uprising...does green really have to pay through the nose for that?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you can do this, but it would also work with a Cranial Plating style workaround where a triggered ability equips it, so that's the backup.
Also, nice find with the cat, do you happen to know if the rules allow equipping an equipment to a creature which already is equipped with it? That way all you need is the Leonin and you have a free upgrade to all your sorceries.
Hmm, I did think about having multiples of this early on, which is a serious potential problem given the set is small and its a common... I'm considering changes to it.
PS: Pretty sure this has been printed at 2/2 stats in red before, the name just escapes me right now.
I dunno, with Walking Corpse Wizards has proved they're not scared to print grizzlies for other colors. As of right now there's no fling effects in the set, but you're right, a red mage could potentially just burn his own critter. I'll consider changing it to another transform trigger or make the front side bigger or something.
A Grizzly Bears that turns into a Seal of Primordium. Very nice. Not strictly better than Seal of Primordium because sometimes you won't be able to sac the Shaman.
Whee. Casting a spell as a cost is a very wacky mechanic, but I believe it works. SadisticMystic thought it worked on his Kite-Mount Raven, and his understanding of the rules is second to absolutely nobody else I know (including anyone at WotC).
Amusingly, this turns Leonin Shikari into a Vedalken Orrery for your sorceries.
No, I think that's quite fair, actually. Green gets a vanilla 2/3 for (Elvish Warrior), and this is quite hard to cast on turn 1, so I think it's quite clever. It'd be irritating to have a starting hand of 3 of these though!
Wurp? A Grizzly Bears for is already above the curve, but then you Fling it and get a 7/6 flyer on turn 3?
