LOL. Yeah, this is a green prop-blue knight is funny. Is Vodalian Riddlemaiden the blue entry?
But yeah, I'd like to see an actual knight.
(I guess references to Gawain and the Green Knight should be avoided unless they're really funny?)
Hee, I remember Song of Serenity. It's got pretty art. I've never played it though, sadly. Wants to be paired with things like Wanderlust, I guess.
Reprint of Scryb Ranger, and, I'm sorry to say, part of the Knight cycle with Blood Knight and gang. I'm sorry to say it, because it totally breaks the cycle, not even bothering to cost
, or, you know, be a knight.
I'm pretty sure the wisdom enabling got the better of me here (plus the pro-blue). It's funny how a decision like this can keep bothering you. Right now, I'm kicking myself. But, very shortly, I'm going to ditch this card and design real live green knight.
I'm still very split on this card. My original thought process is that I just wanted a card that smoothed out Eternal Witness's casting cost, and make it more open ended and approachable. When you think of it that way, the card seems fine. When you compare the card to Gravedigger, however, the card is kind of embarrassing.
So what did I learn when people drafted this card? Eternal Witness is broken, and no one cares. People waved this card around like it was a long lost uncle. Funny what powerful abilities on sensible costed cards can do to people's sense of color-pie fairness.
Reprint of Sosuke's Summons. I don't know how noticeable it is, but there's a snake sub-theme popping up in blue/green uncommons and rares. It's there partially to help balance the red/white soldiers theme, and the black/white thrull theme in common. Those themes were there to help alternate draft strategies for people who weren't focusing on hellbent or wisdom. Green/Blue also has a minor problem, but not as much, since you can play Green/Blue wisdom, or Green/Blue Hellbent. That being said, the color combination is a little scatter-brained, so I gave it a little bump with a tribal theme in uncommon.
I had a lot of auras in set, so I gave people an extra thing to do with them in draft... turn them into Pacifism.
A sweep card in green to help wisdom. Originally this card was a common, but there were 3 anti-flying cards in common, so I pushed this one up. Being able to put multiple cards in your hand is a pretty good trick in this set. I saw one player insist to his friend that if he was going to play Perfect Shot in his Green/White wisdom deck, then he should have more flying creatures... you know, for an emergency target.
Whoops on the wording. I'm sure it had to do with doubling back on the editing and not removing loose words.
And yeah... that thought occurred to me to. By 'do something' I meant "Other than draw more damn cards". But, really, dropping 2/2s into play would have made more sense given my rant.
I'm amused that, if your aim was to let an enchantress deck actually do something, you ended up with gain life as the reward...
Also, that wording is kinda horrible. It'd be rather clearer without the "an".
This has got a bit more flavour. It's something like Polymorph or Pattern of Rebirth.
Oh, weird. It turns out that I designed Evil Maro (roughly) 4 years ago. Go figure. Funny thing is, I was thinking "You know, Evil Maro with a flavor change would make sense in an expansion to 20XX."
Reprint of Harmonize because... well... hmm. I don't know why. I got to admit, this is a pretty loose spot. I'm quite sure this has something to do with wisdom, and I probably chose to add this early on. By now, though, Wisdom enablers are everywhere, and I don't feel like I need something so... blatant.
Part of the pitch land cycle that continued through Brushfire. Obviously, this is me fixing Bounty of the Hunt a touch. Unlike Lust for the Hunt I stuck to straight combat trick... though a bit more likely to be used by casting it straight up.
Inspired by Enchantress's Presence, which took a look at Enchantress style cards and asked "Why are they always creatures and never enchantments?". I always kind of wondered "Why do they always draw cards?". I mean, drawing cards is nice and all, but if you have a deck full of enchantments that draw you cards, your deck isn't exactly going to do anything.
