I could see the argument for that. Sorcery is more natural for a big gorilla effect like Wrath, but if you're wanting a bit of extra splash to justify mythicness while still being only 3 words then instant makes some sense.
How do you feel about

Instant speed? Would I be forcing something that doesn't need to be forced? Or would it help solve the problem?
There's a good chance I'll go back to BBB. Don't mind me as I vacillate between 3 less than perfect choices...
This fits into the Alpha approach to lifegain. White gets Healing Salve; green gets Stream of Life. Fine by me. I also think this is viable for mythic.
I agree this effect should be printed at

someday, and indeed certainly will be. But I also think it's pretty likely to be rare rather than mythic. I appreciate the constraints of your cycle though. I guess you could try to swing it as mythic because black wraths are so much rarer than white ones, especially efficiently-costed ones.

is a pretty cool alternative, though. If this has to be mythic (which it does for your cycle) I'd prefer

, but I can see how other players wouldn't like that.
Makes a lot of sense. I think Time Stop is indeed a viable candidate for a mythic reprint.
It's a little unfortunate that this obsoletes Saltblast, but I do like it a lot (and I think the cost is pretty fair really).
I forgot about heroes remembered. Dropping to 8.
It probably doesn't need to be mythic, but what does need to be mythic. I understand that cards , like Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, with absurd costs and abilities scream mythic, and that planeswalkers are by default (this set's planeswalkers are coming). After that, though, the distinction between mythic and rare is "Is it splashy enough?" Wizards thought Serra Avatar, Thundermaw Hellkite, Vampire Nocturnus, Sublime Archangel and Primordial Hydra were all splashy enough for mythic rarity in Magic 2013. Many of those cards don't need to be mythic to me either... but there needs to be some cards in mythic that aren't goofy, overpowered or hackable, and those fit the bill.
Had this not been part of a three-word-mythic-rare-cycle, then I'd have no problem moving into the rare slot. But it is, and there just aren't many three word combinations out there... dropping this card roughly drops the whole cycle, and I like the cycle as a whole, while I have problems with individual parts. I could always scale the dial up... but gaining 20 seems like the best number to me.
As for whether this ability is white... that's an interesting argument. Personally, I've always associated gaining lots of life with green, and incremental life gain with white. But you're right that there is the occasional white card that goes nuts, gaining you a gigantic pile of life. I don't know if that means green can't do it... I'd think about switching to white, but, again, Evanesce.
Heroes Remembered says 9 is good, but it could probably cost 8. Also, that straight up lifegain this efficient and powerful is probably white. And also that this probably doesn't need to be mythic.
Oh, also, I might have been thinking of Logan's Run when I named this card. :)
Part of the three word mythic rare cycle started with Evanesce. It's kind of goofy, but of all the cards of this cycle, this is the one that excited people when they drafted it. Nine is strangely both too expensive, and too cheap for this effect. Life gain is strange like that.
Reprint of Bedlam and part of the three word mythic cycle started in Evanesce. The first time I read Bedlam, my eyes went wide. The card is such a game changer, and does it without loopholes or tricks. I'm not sure if this card or Time Stop made me make this cycle. Now that I think of it, it was probably both of them together.
The only questionable thing is whether Bedlam is worthy of Mythic. I think it is... but I'm sure a number of people would disagree. It's not like the card made a big splash in Urza's or 7th edition. But wasn't part of the original argument of Mythic was that we weren't going to put money cards in this slot, just flavorful, powerful cards?
Why is this M?
Part of the three word mythic cylce started with Evanesce. There are only so many plausible three word mythic combinations in Magic, and I knew "exile target permanent" was going to white, so I couldn't give white "Exile/Destory all creatures". Besides, Wrath of God has been a staple since Alpha, and any wrath variant probably shouldn't be printed at mythic, since multiple wraths are needed for the health of the game. That means Black gets Damnation... except it doesn't. Because Damnation has the 'can't be regenerated' rider.
That makes this an awkward mythic, since it's very close to being 'strictly worse' than a rare printed 5 years ago. (You could play this with your own regenerating creatures... I mean... you are playing black). Because of that, I orginally costed this card

because... well, why not? Personally, I think constructed could use a hard to cast 3 cost board wiper... it really bites into the aggro decks out there, but would only get used in the meta-game.
I got some grumbles from some players, though, so I'm sticking it at this cost. I'm sure I'll get grumbles from other players. I'd switch the card out, but... 3 words. This works... it will upset some people, but it works, and I think the cycle pays off.
Oh, also, the name is a tribute to and the reverse of Day of Judgment.
Part of the three word Mythic rare cycle, as seen on Evanesce. Time Stop is a given, and may have been my impetus. Tenth Edition was also printed before mythic rarity existed, so Wizards didn't have a chance to reprint it as mythic there. I don't see why they wouldn't choose to reprint it as a mythic now.
Yay! Finally got to the mythics!
This mythic cycle is a cycle of 5 cards with only three words on them. See also: Time Stop, (((Night of Sovereignty))), Bedlam and Renew. It's supposed to be impactful, and some places it works, and some places less so. Evanesce's main problem, for example, is that it's hard to get all worked up about it. Originally, I had this at Desert Twister's cost (except white, and an instant), but players didn't really take to that. Fair enough. 3CC still seems balanced.
I have thought about making it cost

to give it more punch... but then it's less playable to most players. It's especially tricky in a draft, which is the only stage of testing I often do anyway. Personally, I just wish I had a Future Future League who could tell me which version they like better.
