Jay's version is stronger, I think, and personally, I find it less interesting.
18 months later, Jay Treat from Goblin Artisans posted Many Leaks, which strongly reminded me of this card.

Note that, unless Essana is at 9 loyalty, her ultimate does nothing (she'll die as a SBA with 0 loyalty while here ultimate is on the stack; all the exiled stuff will return, then her ultimate will fire and find nothing exiled to tuck).

Whoa. A single 2/3 bird gives you 3 free Rebuff the Wickeds. I guess it's not very different to Drogskol Captain with a built-in Ivory Mask as well. Might be cleaner with that simpler implementation, because as it is I can see a bunch of birds ending up with way too many useless feather counters.
Of course the simplification wouldn't tie in so nicely with Kangee, Aerie Keeper.
Fair enough. The common version of this is Seller of Songbirds, so I imagine you could go a little better at uncommon.
I wasn't putting much thought into power level when I designed this cycle. I just wanted to not down the concept.
I was wondering about this when I saw it. Personally, I think it's secretly better than Isamaru. Especially when followed up by a round two Honor of the Pure (Edit: Whoops, not a white bird. Well, you get the idea. Honor of the Pure isn't the perfect card, but it shows what the card is capable of). It's one of the best round one plays you can make for both White Weenie and Voltron.
To be honest, this could put a 0/1 bird into play, and it would still be a good card. Two chump blockers. Or, like I said, works great with Honor of the Pure, or any Sword.
It's times like this that whole numbers don't seem appropriate. Kind of wish this could be a flying Little Girl.
Mmm, usually - worse against mass removal; which is a token deck's main problem.
But yeah, I'd happily settle for a 1/1 flyer for 1. Getting a free 1/1 land-guy too? Very pushed.
Looks strong. Mourning Thrull was fine, and this is better in most ways.
That's quite a Suntail Hawk. I guess it's sometimes better than Elite Vanguard but sometimes worse. Seems rather better than Doomed Traveler though.

Yes, this would be great fun with all of the Eldrazi titans, and I don't think it would be too broken... but I'm not a developer by any means.
Hmmm. Wacky. So you can turn any card in your hand into a fiddly Gray Ogre. But, more usefully, if you cast Blightsteel Colossus this way then you can blink it to turn it into its true form. In fact it's pretty much like giving cards in your hand "morph {inf}".
Also works great with cast-triggers like Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre because the spell isn't a copy of this on the stack, so you do get his Vindicate effect even if he enters the battlefield as a Gray Ogre.
