Jmgariepy, are you misreading the card? Settle is in no way a drawback. There's only bonus here.
Keflexxx, I don't see how settle creatures are any more difficult to interact with than any other creatures that have upsides. It's not like pairing them with a land makes the creature itself harder to deal with. You don't need to worry about interacting with the land at all. It's not like the lands have settle. That would be a different story. Settle is a flavorful ability with some design space.
The odd thing about Shirk is that it only belongs in white, really. It could probably be stretched into blue, with Fog Bank as a sort of precedent. It's definitely not red.
To be fair, soulbound is also incredibly frustrating. I'm sure Wolfir Silverheart would be worth a lot more money if an untimely Doom Blade didn't suddenly become a combat trick for any creature soulbound to it. Settle seems more like an activated ability on a creature that gets shifted to the land. Not much room for 2-for-1.
That said, it seems kind of silly to me to put a Settle ability on a creature with vigilance. There was already no downside to tapping this creature. Settle just becomes a drawback here.
i basically had this exact mechanic in my set for a while, i turfed it because lands are hard to interact with so the upside could never be particularly good
you'll probably want to design a fix for that if this is going to be a big thing in the set

Settled ability goes to land instead of Explorer of the Unknown.
that downside also meant that silverheart could deliver such a beating; there's a much lower ceiling on settle. which is fine if it's what you want

of course you don't have to, it dies to removal like any creature
but that was an interesting interaction soulbond had that this mechanic doesn't
Sorrow, I'd like to point out that keywords with reminder text are given their own line.
But you don't have to deal with the land. You just have to get rid of the creature.
Sometimes I have the land gain the ability, sometimes I have the creature gain the ability. This is a small set, so I'm not particularly worried.
