+2/-1 is often "on fire". It's an unusual size for a buff/harm; but there's... huh. Only 9 other things used it. And one of those was blue!
Anyway, yes; in print the wording of the reminder text would be massively trimmed down ("Discard two cards with total mana cost 5, draw replacements") but having the full thing spelled out here is appreciated for working out how good a card is.
And it's really really interesting! Red-looting for two; but only of a certain size, in order to deal 1 or 2 damage (depending on whether you can use it to buff your attack or to kill something off)
Maybe a bit too fiddly to actually design around; but certainly worth a try.
CMC is called mana value these days, so that trims the reminder text. You don't need to say "on the battlefield," since that's implied by "you control." This lets you use a token and a 5 drop, but I think that's fine
That reminder text is so long, so some trimming:
Cards from battlefield is iffy. Are you dead-set on disallowing the use of tokens?
Should it be "if algebra was performed" to cover control-change situations in a way consistent with kicker?
+2/-1 feels really weird. Wouldn't use it at common, or at all.
