@Raptor I'm of the opinion bears being allowed to be bigger does not preclude traditional bears existing.
Also I believe Humbler of Mortals and in particular Stampeding Elk Herd have amply demonstrated this ability can definitely happen on a common, but as a triggered ability.
Just make it a conditional trigger like the Herd and you solve your problem of the big bear sitting back like a lazy general while underlings fight for him :P
Yeah. I meant to comment that regular tokenmakers larger than 1/1 are usually not common, but I wasn't sure if the cards were just dumped as common or actually intended as potential commons.
I agree with Grim. Red is now firmly established has having no possibility to create lasting card advantage. Baring the fact I'm not sure this ought to be strictly better than Rummaging Goblin in the first place, it should use that card's templating.
This is really out of color for red.
True. The minimum rate for a common 3/3 flier is 5 CMC, and this is technically 4, and in black, which has historically (Sultai Scavenger aside) not been given such large fliers at common .
"Basic land"?
Perhaps fhis should say "untap another target permanent so as to prevent giving green a 2/2 vigilance for
...
Deranged Assistant not Laboratory Maniac.
Would something similar to Laboratory Maniac be interesting in this spot? Something that splits gap between the red in
and black in
.
Given that Components are a major theme in
, do we want the potential "feel-bad" moment when you can't upgrade your artifact becuase doing so will kill it?
I think this would be better as a non-artifact.
I agree it should only give itself trample.
Also, although Maro has acknowledged that bears as a group should be bigger than a 2/2 (hence why the Bears in Tarkir are bigger than normal) there was an awful lot of backlash at there being no "normal" sized bears in Kahns block.
Are we ok with "big" bears? Or should they be "normal"-sized instead and this be a beast of some sort?
Trash is easy enough to achieve that only this creature should gain trample instead of your whole team
Solid common!
Feels like this wants to be a build-around me uncommon. Give it a better body, like 2/3 or 2/4
If it came down to a fight between the two "splicers", I think the Firebreathing one is more interesting but it might clash with the Steam powered theme in red. Maybe there should be a mini-cycle,

, each giving Thopters abilities and dropping a thopter or 2.
As for it being too strong, Deal Broker isn't exactly pushing the upper limits of power creep and yes it is a rare, but that's mostly becuase of the trading effect not the looter ability. Besides it's "red" looting so it's not as powerful as "blue" looting.
I believe this is a direct port from the original set, at the time red looting was only just establish as a "thing" and its rules were still up in the air. Moving the discard to before the ":" should bring it back to its intended functionality.
I like the card. It is good on it's own, but really rewards you for building thopters. Do note that a single trigger of this guy means 8 damage if with two thopters only, and wins games if you have but a single other creature. How about "Whenever Thopter Rider attacks with one or more flying creature, it gets +1/+1 and gains flying until end of turn"
There is a lot of red creatures producing thopters. How about having one slot for the "splicer" and another one for regular thopter at common?
Splicer : this, Laserbeam Engineer Regular : Enraged Artisan, Steamcrafter Irregular : Reform
When hellbent in the late game, this essentially allows you to draw 2 cards per turn. Compare it to Dark confidant, and I think the discard should be in the cost. Also, merfolk looter in all colors? Do we want to make the looting a bit more inefficient with a
activation cost?
Code CR01C
The default template for sleep effect is "Those artifacts do not uncap during their controllers' next untap steps". See Breaching leviathan and Lorthos the tidemaker
3/3 flying for 3B or 5 is a great rate already, and it turning Trash on immediately is one too many bonuses for this level at common. I would make it either a 3/1 with the rest unchanged to make it weaker in a thopter environment, or a 3/2 or 2/3 but with the milling as a death trigger instead, so as to delay Trash just a bit, and give Exploit players a bone.
This would be a beast in modern zoo.
so elegant now <3
I agree for it to have Crush. This is already a value creature, no need to add hard removal too.
Should be uncommon though, simply by how situational it is.
I too prefer the version where you draw two after discarding lands. I would still play this in limited even if it was a 3U common sorcery.
True. Cheap artifact death touch should be off limit.
@Dude but it doesn't work (or at least didn't the last time there were spam commentws in my sets)
