For Challenge # 007 - though it's not that wonderful there, it's more interesting if you can cast it for 5 later on. Note: You're limited to , not to if this is your commander.
You can't sunburst it for more than 2 if it's your commander, because if your commander is blue-black you can never ever get red, green or white mana in your pool in any way. (Okay, I guess you could sunburst 5 it with Mycosynth Lattice, because that lets you spend mana as if it were green even though you can never actually have green mana.)
Nonetheless, interesting. I like "remove a counter" rather than "remove a +1/+1 counter": lets you do more amusing things :)
Indeed you're limited to 2 colours and that makes it less wonderful as a general than otherwise. I mainly aimed for an interesting card that could be a decent general, rather than an overly good general. And it's still a 2/2 with funny tricks :)
I like the feel of "remove a counter from this: put a counter on that". It evokes the way Pentavus just lets you slide the glass bead on and off the card. I also like the mirrored "target noncreature artifact" vs "target nonartifact creature"... it's kinda Melviny, but I do.
Heh, glad it works at that. I typically fail at templating. The 'non-artifact' thing was a last minute addition for pure symmetry that doesn't really serve any purpose. Glad its non-purpose of looking pretty worked :)
Good idea. I like the idea of an X-cost/sunburst general you can play on turn 1, or may prefer to play later.
Yeah, I almost went with a pure hydra type thing. This is limited to 2, sadly. (well, I guess you can overpay, but to no effect)
You can play this in an EDH deck with a five-colour general, and get it up to 5 easily. I'd probably put it in my Cromat EDH deck.
If this is your general, and its died, can you cast it with X=0, additional cost and still get the counters?
Ooo. Yes. Because Sunburst's rules say "each color of mana spent to cast it", and the cost to cast it is (mana cost + additional costs - cost reductions). You can still only get 2 counters though.
