Shouldn't lose artifact typing.
This seems too cheap.
It seems cheap to me, but small creature-lands and creature-artifacts are often cheaper than I expect. If you take artifact-mana-cost-2-roughly-equivalent-to-land, this is Inkmoth Nexus without the infect, or Copper Myr without the colour but with flying and an activation cost.
With current design standards, I believe Wizards no longer makes 2cmc artifacts that produce mana. That's why this seems cheap.
They do just not usually in standard/limited Thought Vessel
So what knobs to we turn? Turning up the activation seems a bit weak, but doable. Turning up the casting cost seems really weak unless we make the one mana of any color instead
Darksteel Ingot type card with the minor animation ability rather than indestructible seems like a potential option.
Basically a 5 color Keyrune
Darksteel Ingot over Mind Stone
I like this version a lot more.
The problem with 2cmc artifacts that make mana is that they're, essentially, Rampant Growth in all colors.
Yep, this looks sensible now. I like the idea.
I'm aware of the problems of two mana rocks.
It was more of a thought experiment to see if there was some form of two mana rock that seemed acceptable. I clearly overshot :P
There is a lot of griping by some (not here) that "Cluestones are bad, more Mind Stones plz." Rather than just dismiss the idea, I thought I would at least try to make it work. There just seems to be a huge divide between the usefulness of two and three cost mana rocks. Even with cards like Chromatic Lantern often they just aren't good enough to see play.
Yeh I remember GA had a whole weekend challenge to try to make exciting 3cmc mana rocks.
Was really good! With Cipher, this card becomes awesome. Without cipher, it's weird... But hey! It's a manalith!
Can activate itself to mess with Will of the People for a turn.
I liked this card far more than I expected.
It looks great to me. Azorius Keyrune but making mana of any colour.
