This is the other side of the coin to Goblin Treecrasher. It's pushed a bit less hard, but functions a bit like kicker in giving you a RG creature if you can cast it that you can't easily get in most colours at common, but if you don't have the mana is still castable on-curve.
I think adding "if you spent" is a bit of a cheat that undermines the hybrid-ness, but it's a good idea I found while looking for other half-hybrid cards online. It's a bit like kicker, but doesn't require a whole extra mana to work, so lets you be on-curve either way. But in this case, it could probably cost with the same effect, so it doesn't make the case as well as it might. Maybe it should have trample as well?
And like Goblin Treecrasher, if this happened, you'd have to decide how many cards to have in the cycle -- do you have the full twenty of all CD combinations both ways round, or have asymmetric cycle of GR, RB, BU, UW, WG, or somewhere in between?
Mm, I like this less than Goblin Treecrasher, because as you say this could just cost . If this were to be printed I'd expect one cycle of five monocolour cards with off-colour casting triggers going one way around the wheel.
I wish there was an emoticon that inferred "I'm going to talk about your card, but by now you probably don't care much. Just pretend I'm a time traveler. A very slow time traveler."
Anyhow, this would have made a fine 2/3. With this cost, it's more of a green creature with potential red upgrade, anyway.
See Challenge # 118.

Ideally I'd push it to the point where it was unexciting at GG but slightly too good for 1G, but I'm not sure if I can find that sweet spot.
