My logic is, there are some cards that could be GR or GG. When does it matter? On turn two, when GR might be two hard to cast, but might be too generous and let RR get what it shouldn't.
In a deck with lots of non-tapped dual-lands, this is almost no benefit over GG or GR. But if you want to have a primary-G GR deck made primarily of forests and mountains, it matters a lot that you can get this out on-curve.
Obviously you could do something similar with , but I think there's some justification for the half-hybrid. I think this is GG or GR but not RR, but I was trying to think of an example which was even clearer (maybe having a keyword from G only and one from etc).
Yep, that seems spot on. Garruk's Companion is okay (albeit slightly pushed). Goblin Deathraiders is okay, and green gets beefier creatures than black, so I'm pretty sure is okay for a 3/2 trample as well. Nicely done.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure this would be a fine GR creature, maybe more so than GG. My only worries were, firstly, this is sliiiiiightly easier to cast than Garruck's Companion, so it's actually strictly better. I think that's ok in a pushed cycle in a hybrid set, but I'm not sure. And secondly, I'm not sure if RR can't get this, because if it can this should maybe be .
But I'm glad the idea comes across. I think I could make twenty of these, but I probably won't :)

I have a related design coming up next oo.
