This is legendary for flavor. I think the ability could probably be uncommon but it's weird so it feels like it should be rare.

Also, since he has to get killed the card is a human rather than spirit.

Stumbled upon this and I have to say this is extremely neat flavor.

Also incidentally reminiscent of an upcoming legendary Dinosaur for mechanical reasons.

Kind of neat yeah. But also really clunky. Since usage will always actually be sacrificing it in response to taking the damage that puts the curse counter on. Why not just give it deathtouch instead?

(1) It will be put into your graveyard as a state-based action before you get priority once it is dealt lethal damage, so you cannot activate its or any other activated ability.

(2) The ability can only be activated if King Hamlet is in your graveyard, so at best you could sacrifice it to another copy of itself (but you can't do that either; see (1)).

Well, all of this assumes you are not granting it indestructible from another effect or anything like that.
