Oh hey, it's.. whaddyacallim, fire caste 'good guy' from W40k. Not necrons, same era though... Tau; that's it.
Starring in an Imperial Guard recruiting poster "This is the face of the enemy" style thing, by the looks of it.
Huh; it's actually the cover art from their computer game. They were the good guys in that game. How odd.
So ok, it's a robot suit thing with a gun, on a pile of skulls and hats. If it were a movie, that pose would be a slow pause as the title displayed, just before he goes for the camera.
So, quite honestly? "Unit - Soldier" 1/1 vanilla is a perfectly sensible thing to do. Probably white.
But I suppose I ought to build something on the "Lone, robotic, skull collector"
So, for S:tC the Tau are very tribal. As long as you're devoted to them, they're golden - but break them up and they; well, they don't exactly turn on you, people dislike downsides. But they stop being as good.
And the fire caste, well, they like to kill stuff. Like, a lot. And hey, Tau have ranks; yoinking their littlest rank for their littlest guy.

You know, I think this is the second time I accidentally ripped a popular character. Doesn't really bother me, since it's still appropriate. Just funny... I guess it's bound to happen. I dodged any image I did recognize, but it's a lot harder to dodge what you don't know...
Anyhow, I really like the 'selfish tribal' mechanic. It'd be great to see a tribe be this exclusionary. Especially if it meant you could print more powerful cards in the process (this guy, for example, could just be an Isamaru, Hound of Konda assuming there's only Tau in play. It's both not a restriction, and a restriction.) I could see the mechanic being very love/hate, like slivers are.
Ah well, they're hardly big and famous. I suspect nowadays this would just be "Put a +1/+1 counter on a Tau" - pretty much 'Allies' tribal; as it is, it's too parasitic. But if such a thing were grandfathered in right from the start, it could work.
Plus, hey, auxillaries. (Which we haven't seen any of yet, a shame.)
