Face of the Oracle
Unit – Mutant Advisor
Defender.
Whenever another unit comes under your command, you may scry 1.
OK, finally we have a card where "advisor" is actually appropriate. Although in fantasy, I think the oracles are usually druids or wizards or shamans, not advisors.
I don't know why I thought "oracle", I just saw a giant face and thought "that can't do much other than talk". And "scry" was the simplest way of saying "creatures ask it questions".
It was originally going to be a non-unit device, but I wasn't sure how to cost it, so I decided to power it up as a creature.
I want to translate "scry" into space the convergence-ese, but I'm not sure what's best. Something about predicting the future with computers. Forecast, but that means something else in normal magic. Psychohistory, but that's not verbable. Other suggestions?
ETA: For the record, I think the normal magic text would be "Creature - Human Advisor" and "Defender. Whenever another creature enters the battlefield under your control, you may scry 1."
Oops, I should translate "defender" too, even though that could be spacey. Is there an accepted translation of "defender"?
Oh thank you, it's really handy to have a dictionary!
Not sure about scan. It makes sense, in a "scan the situation before plunging into it" way, but it could mean anything. I still quite like "forecast", even though it would be confusing with "forecast" in regular magic, which would presumably be something else in S:TC
See Challenge # 108.

Psychohistory. Nice. But, yeah, doesn't verbiate. Another funny choice that doesn't quite work is 'Game Theory'.
Perhaps 'Algorithm'?
Space: the Convergence Terms says the StC community reckoned "Scan" for scry. Defender gets the uninspiring "Defence".
