For Challenge # 102. I don't like using the Command Zone like that, but that effect really can't go anywhere else. Sometimes, I kind of wish AWOL was for serious...

Edit: I thought [[[Erase (Not the Urza's Legacy One)]]] was AWOL's name. Got the two mixed up. This post was me realizing that Erase(NtULO) couldn't be linked on multiverse normally, so I provided a picture... but I was wrong. Wrooong!

instaban in EDH?

It's not legendary, so you don't get a free ride to let it start the game there.

Are we talking about Command Zone difficulties? Rule 11 says "While a Commander is in the command zone, it may be cast." You couldn't cast Big Zam from the Command Zone, since he's not a Commander.

If you're talking about power level issues... I'd find it very funny to see, what looks to me, to be such a fair card banned in Commander. It is kind of crazy that it can't be wiped. But, I mean, really, if Tooth and Nail is legal in Commander, I find it hard to understand how any 12 cost card could be banned (though, I admit, that's more an argument for why Tooth and Nail should be banned. Commander is a strange community...)

I could be persuaded that this card needs to cost 14 or so. Maybe.

Nah, I think people were just misunderstanding the implications of the command zone line.

See, the thing is: Rules text like Big Zam looks pretty weird to us, currently. But we'll get more used to it as we see it more, and discuss it more. What I'm trying to say is, this may look strange today, but Tomorrow, a Zam is familiar.

Alex, you are hilarious.

@jmgariepy: You could get around the command zone weirdness with something like instead

> When you cast ~, exile it with a mass-production counter on it. > > At the beginning of your end of turn step, if ~ is exiled with a mass-production counter on it,...

Oh, hey, you can put counters on exiled cards. That's the point of Suspend, after all. It's a good idea, though possibly an argument for another day. Big Zam's a bad example because it's so big... it feels like it deserves the Command Zone. But if this was a major mechanic in a set, I'd probably agree with you... just a pity it requires more words.

I did edit the card, though, to put Zam tokens into play. :)
