Created for Challenge # 100 for Time Reversal. I happen to know that qqzm's fondness for pre-Time Spiral cards has a particular focus in Hunting Grounds. So I thought it'd be a natural card to revisit. What other threshold mechanics are there than Threshold itself? For a while I was planning a Metalcraft riff on Hunting Grounds, but that does distort your deck in quite a specific way and in a way that I didn't think Time Reversal was going to have particular support for.
So I went and looked at MaRo's article on threshold mechanics looking for other ideas. Tribal is indeed a natural alternative, and the Faeries tribe is particularly associated with Lorwyn, which fits the requirements of being post-Time Spiral. So here we have a Faerie tribal threshold Hunting Grounds for Time Reversal.
(Should this be a Faerie itself? I tend to reckon almost all tribal cards should be. I guess it could turn into a 2-mana enchantment with this rules text though. Should this be mono-blue? I think dropping free creatures is green enough that it's better as a gold card. If qqzm really wanted to play up the old-style nostalgia, I guess it could be mono-green, referencing Faerie Noble, Argothian Pixies, Scryb Sprites and all the others that Scryb Ranger was referencing.)
(Oops, I managed to forget that qqzm's fondness for Hunting Grounds is in fact pretty obvious in Time Reversal, by the way he created an entire cycle of homages to it! Oh well, never mind...)
I like this a lot. I would totally play it. It would be pretty good for faeries, too, I think. A free Spellstutter Sprite when they cast their creature spell seems good.
