Underwhelming, doesn't lead to much advantage, card or otherwise. Worthless in Limited. Good job!

Made for Challenge # 042. The only way I could really see them possibly making uncommon planeswalkers (and they still won't) is if they had a "Planeswalkers matter" set, where something is happening in the universe to cause a lot more planeswalkers to start popping up. Some important parts of this card:

1) Uncommon planeswalkers should only have a few simple and comparatively weak abilities (1 or 2 max) and definitely no ultimate so they don't approach the "coolness level" of the mythic ones.

2) I omitted having a subtype for it so that it can't get legend ruled with itself. This is important to make them feel less unique than their mythic counterparts and also to make the limited environment more playable/enjoyable.

@dude: This would be in a set with a significant enough number of other common/uncommon planeswalkers, so it wouldn't be completely worthless. It would be the kind of card where if you end up drafting the nut planeswalker-themed deck, you would be able to pick these up because other people would be passing them late, that kinda thing.

I like the idea going on here... and I see you did the first thing that I thought of - remove the Planeswalker sub-type so it was no longer 'Legendary' and you could play as many of these guys as you want. The flavor still feels a bit off to me, though, since, well, this guy is still a Planeswalker. So that means that he/she has a name, background and personality, even if we're treating him/her generically.

This reminds me a bit of the Decipher Star Wars CCG. There were a lot of cards that referenced Luke, Darth Vader, The Millenium Falcon, etc.. This was a bit unfortunate, since Darth Vader alone fetched $100 on the singles market. So Decipher decided to print up a bunch of common versions of the main characters, without the beefed up stats, so Average Joe Star Wars players had a chance to play 10% of the cards in their collection again. Unfortunately, they felt terrible to play with, and kind of cheapened the game.

I don't think this is that, since this isn't "Jace, the n00b". It's still a generic planeswalker, though... I think if I saw this card, without seeing the set it came from, I'd be a bit upset... kind of like dude's initial evaluation. I think I could be won over by an awesome set construction overcoming that heap, but I wonder if the payoff would be worth the exertion. Maybe?

@jmg: Well, if we're talking about putting Planeswalkers in the C/U rarities, then evidently in this set, Planeswalkers have become a very common occurence, and it's logical that in this universe/plane some will be less powerful and therefore less notable than the others. I think that take on it is much more palatable than having a TON of named commons and uncommons reading as "Joe Schmoe, the Underwhelming Planeswalker" and they are all legend-ruling each other in limited. I agree that the flavor of it is still awkward, and is probably one of the major reasons that we will never see C/U planeswalkers ever printed.

★★★ Joe Schmoe, the Underwhelming Planeswalker!!! ★★★

Yup, I agree with most things said here. The challenge does lead one to imagine a flavour event that's led to a lot of new planeswalkers appearing. You do need to consider the planeswalker uniqueness rule, and the simplest solution there is to leave off the planeswalker type, and give the guy a correspondingly generic name. And non-rare PWs should probably only have 1-2 abilities rather than 3-4.

This specific one is a nice approach: taking the idea "there are lots of planeswalkers in this set" and running with it :) Good job!

@Alex: Thanks! I was going for basically a planeswalker version of Venerated Teacher :)
