For Challenge # 038. Thankfully, this casting cost was dodged between when I first saw the challenge, and when I got a chance to throw out my idea. I figured I had a 33% chance that someone would go for "Red Counterspell" colors.

I have suspend to thank for casting things from exile. I snuck in "from your hand" though, to get rid of the "When I cast this spell, it gets exiled" paradox.

The card doesn't target so that you don't need to target a spell when you first cast it, which would be weird. Also, I made this a sorcery to stop people from thinking they could respond with this spell, when... you know... what the heck are you going to respond to? While "Counter all spells" has the flaw that you can start casting a bunch of cheap spells in an attempt to counter a good spell that passed a coin flip, I consider that a benefit. :)

Also, almost named this "The Fault in Our Stars", but figured referencing John Green would probably take away from what the card did. :P

So.. some spell, sometime in the future, triggers a stack-clear? Nicely anti storm, nicely random... Nicely red. Still very very strange, hard to see when I'd run it (unless storm really makes a comeback) since it's just as likely to hit me as an opponent and red doesn't usually do the "Set up my win conditions on permanents then sit back" thing.

"Just as likely to hit me as an opponent" - well, that's often red's thing too: Goblin Assassin, Pyrostatic Pillar, and heck, Earthquake and so on. This is indeed very funny, and not least so because it is genuinely a counterspell with type Sorcery :)

Doesn't work so very well against storm, since only the original spell gets cast; the copies are all put on the stack.

But can't they still be countered from there, and you've cast a fair number of spells in order to get the storm going?

Yes, it's got, say, 7/8 chance of interfering somehow with a storm turn of 3 spells. Although I fear that with actual storm spells you can stack things such that the original spell gets countered but then the storm ability puts a bunch more copies of it on the stack even though the original's gone.
