(This was created as context for Challenge # 037.)

FWIW, wizards probably shouldn't have let this get printed, you get quite NSFW hits when you search for the name :)

:D

I tried to go for "Most silly/possibly disturbing name for every creature to get."

LOL. True, I commented before I really read the ability, it is pretty funny. Though it should be a turtle :) But is there a sexual or other meaning I'm unaware of (which is fine)? I'm primarily aware of the racial slur, which probably shouldn't go on magic cards even in jest :)

The ability is a very clever preemptive hoser.

Holy crap. I had no idea this was a racial slur. It just sounded like a funny set of words, which I wasn't even sure if I created it or not. Changing name before I offend someone.

Problem solved. Though, now I assume that someone will tell me that the Webbed Woozle is an obscure sexual deviation? Yes?

Ah! Sorry, I wasn't sure, I'm really glad I brought it up now. Yeah, I did like the original name (and I've never actually heard "wetback" used as a slur, I just know it from "lists of slurs common in USA").

Shouldn't you change the name it grants to everything too? Otherwise as soon as it comes down, you're right back where you started.

Hang on; what happens if this hits the board when there's a legendary creature in play? Nothing special? Wrath of God?

If there are two or more legendary creatures, then all legendary creatures will die. (This + Leyline of Singularity = amusement.) If there's just one, it sits there smugly confident of its uniqueness.

If I recall the rules on legendary creatures, I think they are removed from play when there are two legendary creatures with the same name. So (although it has thus far not been an issue in non-silver-border magic), technically a legandary and non-legendary creature with the same name don't do anything.

But this would send to the graveyard two different legendary creatures. I did wonder if that would have been printed. On the one hand, it's probably comparatively unusual it's actually a problem. On the other hand, wizards generally avoid effects that abuse the "legend rule", and I suspect it would lead to rules arguments (eg. I doubt most people would know what happens even if there's only one legendary creature).

It's possible the comprehensive rules could be altered slightly to resolve the confusion, I'm not sure.

Darn. cheap legends to remove the woozle seemed like a good plan :) Cheap legend with "Woozles are legendary"?

This doesn't actually make anything a Woozle. It just gives them the name, not the creature type.

But you're right, something like Leyline of Singularity on a two-drop would be an amusing answer to this card. Not a very good answer to the deck as a whole given it also includes Epitaph Scriber and Fen of Lies, but an amusing answer to this card.
