I'm least happy with this part of the cycle, since, by the rest of the cycle, it should resist green removal. Unfortunately, I have the problem of not knowing how it should do that. Protection from creatures might make the most sense if I was trying purely to think of a way to defy green removal, but that feels weird both in black and with the rest of the cycle.

Funny thing is, you could have gotten away with not including a first line of text. I think that if any of the colors would have gotten this ability, it would have been the color of Skittering Horror.

Ha. I suppose you're right.

Hmm. Green removal. There are occasional things like Snakeform, Lignify, Hornet Sting and Utopia Vow, and indeed Prey Upon and Master of the Wild Hunt. But unless it's a flyer, most "green removal" would be pump spells on their own creatures in combat with this. Jack's Magic-Immune Brute is a great take on that, but it's unique enough that I can't really suggest copying it :P

The classic green removal is Desert Twister of course...

Alex: Thanks. Link, feel free to steal it if you want, though it doesn't really feel cycle-y to me.

I like the idea of the cycle :)

Although the pedant in me is thinking something like:

vs U: Can't be countered.
vs B: Is black
vs R: X/6
vs G: is a creature

:)

FWIW, I'd think "turning it into a different creature with fewer abilities" is the greenest removal that can hit anything, although "fight" is hopefully going to become more common, and deathtouch and anti-flying have a long history.

What if it was "~ cannot be damage by creatures"? Or would it be more likely to be phrased "Prevent all damage that would be dealt to ~ by a creature source"?
