no tapped.

For Challenge # 022. It's an Essence of the Wild land. Not sure if it's just completely OP like this.

remade tapped

I realised that if this made things ETB untapped everyone would play a four-of, cause it negates color screw :)

Um, yeah - without the ETB tapped this is better than City of Brass, Rainbow Vale and, well, pretty much every other land except maybe the urza's and the guild lands.

With it? Well, it sets you back a turn - but it's still "Run 4 of in every multicoloured deck" I fear.

Hmm. Yes, you're probably right.

I was toying with "{t}: Add {x} colorless mana to your mana pool, where {x} is the number of Mirror Grottos in play" except with better text. Probably make Grotto a land subtype or something and do it like Glimmerpost

Well, then you're stamping on the urza's lands. Probably roughly equivalently powered though, since although urza's is harder to get going, they cap out at 24 mana where this caps out at only 16.

Well, actually, every land you play would add to the count of Grottos, so it isn't capped at 16 at all :)

The tradeoff is that you can't play this immediately unless you only play colourless cards - you'd have to play it once you knew you could make all the colours of mana that you want.

Um, ack, yes. This does grow rather explosively. Urza loses out on every drop, though yes, let's you go {1},{2},{7},{?}{7} rather than {1},{4},{9},{16} - and this is much easier to do. Turn 3 eldrazi? Turn four 'win the game' eldrazi? Yow. But... within the realm of possibility already. So that version is also "Run 4 of" except in heavily multicoloured decks.

Huh, 16 worked. How high do these go? {20} {30} {42} {88} {99} {100} {999} Huh. {21}? {2?} {?R} {r/g} {g/r}

It goes up to {20}, with exceptions for {100} and {inf}/{infinity} for Mox Lotus and {1000000} for Gleemax. And {inf} isn't working for some reason.

{INF} maybe? Guess not.

{x} is not X

Lol. Random numbers! BTW, {20} looks a little off.

Indeed; it's because someone had to render it, because there's nothing printed that high. We've got Emrakul, the Aeons Torn at {15} and Draco at {16}, but nothing at {17}, {18}, {19} or {20} (or indeed at {13} or {14} IIRC).

Amusingly, in gatherer, it has {2}0

I also rendered {-1} through {-9}, but none of those went up except {-3}, and that only because I already had a card that provides the only sensible use case I can imagine for any of those symbols.

Can't help but think what I'd do with this.

I think the answer is "4 of it, some other random land, mulligan down as far as needed until I can 1-drop this, play with some {1} artifacts, some {4} and a tonne of eldrazi. Win."

Sorry for (very subtly) ripping you off with Vanishing Point (This creature enters the battlefield with PointASWORDS time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter from it. When the last is removed, sacrifice it.)(http://multiverse.heroku.com/cards/11590). Please think of it as homage rather than...you know.
