Was there a reason this went via exile rather than the graveyard? I'm sure there was but I don't remember it. It seems like this should just have the ability from Enchantment Digger?

We were playing with an exile-matters theme for white. Things like Reklat Sdrawkcab and Aurora Vault. Older versions of Woven Life did as well. That may have somewhat fallen by the wayside though.

Ah! You're right, I'd completely forgotten. I'm inclined to leave it out for the moment, any other opinions?

To be honest, I kind of like the card from a 'collect me' standpoint. But I can see that it really doesn't need to exile... it just needs to return another creature with the same name from the graveyard. I suppose it's kind of like the old two Gravedigger trick, except you can only ever get another Gravedigger, but you get a bonus toughness and reach in exchange.

I suppose this raises 2 questions:

1). Has playing with exile fallen by the wayside? Should I just change this to 'other creature with same name in graveyard'.

2). Is it okay to have both this card and Enchantment Digger in the same common sheet, since it's quite possible that card is coming in.

I think we should make a choice about playing-with-exile one way or the other. At the moment I'm leaning towards leaving it as a rather minor theme, and simplifying mentions of exile away from cards that don't need to do it. So that means turning this into

> When ~ dies, you may return another card named ~ from your graveyard to your hand.

Which I think is simple enough to be worth doing.

That said; I think the best candidate for the current empty common slot is indeed Enchantment Digger (either at 3/3 for 5 or at 2/2 for 3), and this is very similar.

I think it makes sense to have one or the other. I would vote for enchantment digger, since it CAN do the "two of them recur each other" trick, but it can do other things as well, and seems simple enough for common. Although maybe it should be slightly smaller and at 4-mana -- it would be nice to have a greater chance of being able to cast the returned card sooner.

I think we trimmed the white skeleton for space, I hope some of the other cards in the set could fill the hole (especially if the lance moves to uncommon too).

ETA: Sorry, I seemed to have been very negative this afternoon. I just had time to post some comments, but not enough to design any cards, but I seemed to have just been disagreeing with everything suggested, sorry :)

Exile removed. I turned it into a 2/4 with Reach, though, so we wouldn't lose our Reach slot.

That said, this is now a loose card. I'm open to suggestions for what this card might be... it needs to be a creature (enchantment) and I'd suggest something that adds to the 'enchantments matter' theme, or possibly 'we like exile', but it doesn't need to be either, really.

How about we just give this slot to Enchantment Digger instead?

Don't need to. Enchantment Digger is already in the skeleton. We had an extra, extra slot open, caused by moving the lance into uncommon.

Hm? Soulcapture Lance is still common both on the card and in its code?

Ah! I think enchantment digger replaced runearrow archer at common, but we probably ALSO want to move Soulcapture Lance to uncommon. Either way, I'd rather distance this more from Enchantment Digger, or replace it with Lightmare or one of the other common submissions.

Oh, whoops, yes, it was Runearrow archer that moved. All the more reason to make sure Reach stays on the new card.
