Yeah, definitely. I wanted to keep it simple, but I agree this is ever so strong.
Camruth: Oh, hm. Maybe you should take the next two free in that case, I'm not sure.
Or maybe even "plant kraken"? But yes, definitely flavourful.
Scarily strong for a one-drop infect creature (compare with Glistener Elf), but I can't argue that the flavour is excellent.
I eventually got around to entering my own challenge. Ogre Pacifist, Jungle Kraken, Enraged Griffin and Kor Traitor. Four rather than three because I had four ideas, and I'm bad at culling my ideas.
Created for Challenge # 003.

Taking the great beasts of the sea and making them green has been quite popular for this challenge. There are two green Leviathans, but I went with a slightly different sea monster here. I thought "What would a kraken native to the jungle do? It'd use its tentacles to grab flyers." From there it was all driven by that flavour.

Hmmm I originally had my first 4 challenges mapped out so, could I have slot 8?????
WOW - This has taken of better than I had hoped - and taken on a life of its own in the process.
Don't get me wrong, this is a good thing - there have been some brilliant submissions which is exactly what I had hoped for.
I think every Monday would be about right for posting challenges (I was originally going to post a new one every fortnight).
I looked at this and though, "But there are already white merfolk." Then I realized you were shifting a Pirate. Nice.
So far there have been 6 blue zombies and Slavering Nulls in red.
For Challenge # 003.
I considered trying to add something like "Whenever ~ becomes the target of a spell or ability a player controls, its deals 1 damage to that player." but decided it just complicated it.
The creature was meant to say "another target creature." Oops. But you're right, the cycling ability is too good.
Oh, wow. I didn't just make something up... it was there all along. I had forgotten about that Djinn. Makes sense to match it up.
Good idea. I think I'll add something for #5.
Based on Maelstrom Djinn and Tidewalker, I fear this needs to say "...put three time counters on it and it gains vanishing."
Actually, might be slightly clearer to say "...put three time counters on that creature and it gains vanishing."
This is a fun card, but what strikes me as particularly fantastic is the name :)
Wow, Flagbearers! There's an awesome type from the past. Not the kind of thing I had in mind when I said "iconic creature type for one colour", but I can't deny it fits the description :) I guess people have been reminded a bit with the recent printing of Spellskite.
And this is a very nice ability. Regeneration is such a standard ability, particularly for a 1/1 Zombie, and yet it goes so well with Flagbearing... without making it completely unsolvable. Very nice design.
