For Challenge # 032. Did you know that Platypus is one of the few venomous mammals? It's true! They inject an excruciatingly painful cocktail with a barb in its hind foot that has the potential to incapacitate humans through pain, and kills dingoes.
Also, did you know that Platypus close off their eyes, ears and nose when diving? The platypus bill has a delicate electrorecptor, so that when they dive, their bill tells them what is potential food from the electricity given off by moving muscles. These things are as crazy intricate as first edition Dungeons and Dragons monsters!
I'm tempted to simultaneously say "This card should have '
: Add
to your mana pool.'" and "City of Traitors and its ilk infer that this card may be too good." That's a weird contradiction in my head, so I'm just going to assume this is precariously balanced.
Also, I'm a fan of activating this on round one to play Coiling Oracle. :)
Really? 6cc for a 5/5 reach with a massive drawback? Normally, I wouldn't bother talking about cc v. p/t, but if you removed the drawback, this could sit in a file as a strong common.
Nothing too interesting, but I've got Capybara, Cane Toad, and Otter's Stream.
I don't think Wizards has done a card with otters yet. Nothing came up on the Gatherer when I searched for it.
Well, the islandwalk will almost never be used on your opponent's creatures anyway, since it'll only matter if you try to kill one of their creatures and fail, I think the intent is that you can use it to give your own 1/3s islandwalk. I'm not sure what combinations would fit the flavour best, though :)
Well, it's just that nobody would ever bother activating it when the islandwalk could be relevant. In fact, it's more likely to be activated on the controller's own turn...
Plausibly; though I don't see a massive problem with just using this as a fighter, from the flavour I gave it. Balancewise; no idea. Used that way it's a green assassin, but hey, it's beating up small creatures :)
Ember Weaver
Also all three cards are named directly after real members of the frog/toad family.
"Activate this ability only before combat"?
Nngg, I remember the card, just not its name.
Well, I definitely know the set....
I used it in my red/green deck, but I can't remember the name :)
Yet another spider to frog reimagining, anyone know which spider though? without cheating and using Gatherer? lol
:) I think I would have gone for turning these cards into things like Seal of Doom. (No, seriously. Seal of DOOM). But I like this plan, too.
