Jund IS previewed. It gives all creatures Devour 5, though I forget what the
ability is. I think it was one of the first spoiled.
jmgariepy: I am that dude. :)
Alex: Thanks.
I created Mogg Warrens.
Created for Challenge # 040. Using the counters technology of Naar Isle, but making tokens - because to my astonishment, Goldmeadow is the only plane that makes tokens so far (though I'm sure Planechase 2012 will bring some more).
Heehee!
I assume the last ability is meant to be a colour of your (the
roller's) choice? Might be worth spelling that out.
I agree "controller" would be more natural.
But this is a very printable-looking plane.
The chaos ability on most planes is beneficial. This is horribly detrimental. Which means that if someone's suffering from the main ability, they'll want to be rolling to try to get away, but the chaos ability will be punishing them even more than the inherent "roll blanks 2/3 of the time" factor. I don't like it.
Also, "you" on a plane refers to the player whose turn it currently is, right? Which means the top ability doesn't do very much except nerf countermagic and defensive combat tricks.
Aww, guys! Why did you have to make this challenge now? The update for Schemes and Planes is like, 1 day's work away from arriving? But I'm not going to get to do that for... aw, heck, I'll see if I can deploy it tonight. (Sneak preview.) :)
(To jmg: Bant, Naya and Grixis are taken so far. Jund and Esper may well be appearing in Planechase 2012, but they're fair game until those cards are previewed :) )
So... if I'm winning, I never want to roll or cast spells. That would result in bad things, since my opponent must either (1.) Roll to get out of Valkri, or (2.) Cast spells, which I immediately get copies of and keep winning.
Also, if both my opponent and I perceive that we are both winning, neither of us rolls or casts spells. We just sit, draw and pass.
Does that sound about right?
Hmm... I think the Control Magic wizard gets a bum rap sometimes. Mechanics are commonly aligned against him, even as they make Control effects cost an appropriate amount. Still, nobody likes that dude.
Also, I will have to complete my Archenemy work, so that someday I can compile this madness as well. Noted to myself. Very far down the road, though. I may wait until Alex finishes finding a way to make these cards oversized, anyhow.
Is it wrong that the name makes me think of the Hall of the Mountain King?
Hmm... the real trick would be to use a Plane that wizards has not yet. I think every plane in Alara, except Bant, is open. Theorhettically, There are 1,000 more planes in Rabiah that one can design. I'll have to think more on this.
Owner was intentional. Do you think it should be controller?
Oh, you're right. I didn't notice that. My bad.
Is it wrong that the name automatically makes me think of Wicked?
I designed The Hallowed Halls. I actually don't play multiplayer often, but I imagine this might create some interesting situations. Or everyone might just name the colour of the player that's clearly winning.
Owner or controller?
No one would want to leave, but the chaos ability is very powerful, especially with many players. For each spell cast that way, you get the copy as well. If people roll for chaos, they'll eventually planeswalk away.
I made Elyssian Gates.
Designed for Challenge # 040.
You would want to roll to make others stop copying your spells, I guess. But you're right, there's a strong incentive not to roll.
I really like the concept, but I have to ask:
Is anyone ever going to want to roll while on this plane?
I submit River of Turbulence.
For Challenge # 040. Valkri is the setting of my set Convergence. The Turbulence is a type of uncontrollable mana that does chaotic things to your spells.
Rules-wise, if you copy a permanent spell, you end up putting a copy of that permanent onto the battlefield under your control.
