@jmg: Doh! I tell myself to always check, and then think they won't have used THIS name. Oops :)
@alex: i considered exile, but decided that was just too boring for red. I could make it RR so its a lot harder to splash.
LOL. Yeah, I was thinking of that. I definitely agreed with your reasoning. In this case, I didnt so much WANT colour differentiation, except that it had to be that so oppo isnt stuck with RRRR ~they cant use. (I considered "everyone untaps all lands they control twice" for that reason, but it was too fiddly.)
Kinda like Lust for War, but more like a real confusion effect.
Mass Confusion seems pretty
, since it's the color of chaos, so the emotion of confusion fits right in. And I think this actually would be playable in limited as a reasonable finisher, too :) I also made an uncommon enchantment in Daze of Confusion that is a similar type of effect, enjoy :)
Hee. Well, I'm certainly in favour of this mechanic :)
I love it. Reminds me of Breakthrough.
Sadly would probably get used in the same way, i.e. to fuel a massive Dredge engine. It's also the cheapest instant-Threshold engine ever printed.
And it's hilarious with Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind and Diviner's Wand :)
Wow, this is reaaally powerful in mono-red aggro. Dump my hand and hit to you low, then impulse 10 to find my removal/finisher of choice Or just another one of these to impulse 10 again for just R.
I know that Magic doesn't currently expect you to have a 6-sider to play the game, but personally, I think maybe that should change to open up a little more design space for future cards, and expecting the player to have dice around is really useful anyway, for planeswalkers and counters and such. This could be easily altered to flip a coin instead (remove the 3-4 result and lower casting cost of the spell).
I rather like this card, Jack. Unfortunately, there's already a card named Monomania, though. Damn other colors stealing red's emotions! (Though, technically, this is more of a condition... whatever)
Hmm. Final Punishment does indicate that I can decrease the casting cost, doesn't it?
it is.
Reads a bit like Final Punishment or Hidetsugu's Second Rite, but I can see where you're coming from.
Humongous Surge
Monomania
For Challenge # 041
It occurs to me that Zac Hill used it in his Latest Development article: Sculpting Flow and Fiero. http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/ld/184
From what I can tell, it's mostly a word that Jane McGonigal likes to use... but she's a woman with a lot of swagger in the gaming community, and it's a good word that makes sense and describes a very important moment when overcoming challenges. Maybe it will catch on... who knows? For right now, though, when you google Fiero, you get back a pile of links on the Pontiac Fiero...
Never heard of it. I thought this was a Wicked reference. :)
Added Fiero to the mix. Which brings up an odd point... Blue and (for some reason) Green have gotten Breakthrough, Stroke of Genius and Eureka... moments of extreme passion, that would probably be best expressed by red... I think the big problem with "red's supposed to be about passion, but just comes off as angry" is because the other colors steal what should be red dramatic emotion. Nihilistic Glee? Swell of Courage? Thirst for Knowledge? Vitalize? I'm not saying that the other colors shouldn't show any emotion, but those words should be allowed to be red, as much as they are black, white, blue and green.
For Challenge # 041. I assume many people don't know this Italian word that is starting to become part of game-speak:
I also made (((Anticlimax))), but I don't know how well it fits this challenge.
I made Compassionate Teachings. Also, does Lover's Rejection count?
For Challenge # 041.
Forgot card type AND rarity. Oops.
