I'm pretty sure that Sorrow meant 'sub-type' when he said... oh hold it... maybe he didn't. I mean, what exactly does Blight Plot share a type with? Lands I guess. Huh. Well that plays much differently then I thought.
Yeah... I guess the only way to use this card efficiently is to play it on turn one, then play a creature on turn two, then use it to exile your opponent's lands on turn four, by exiling yours. It would work, and be fair... but I don't know if fair is the ultimate goal of card design. Even more annoying would be the whole "He's got that land on his side of the table, so I don't play my cards (lands) because if I do they will be destroyed", which is a game that both players can participate in when this is on the table. I'm glad they haven't reprinted Armageddon for a while now. I don't know many people who think it would be good to reprint it, unless they are imagining winning the game with it.
This isn't a tribal hoser so much as a land hoser. As I read famine (on the only card with reminder text for it), this ETBing will destroy/exile all your lands. In return for that, you get to sac three more lands to donate it to an opponent.
I'm pretty sure I'd never play it.
It's not just anti-tribal, but anti-creature. All creatures share a type with this - the type "creature".
Hm. That flavour is good. If there were room for flavour text, you could add some flavour text that the eyes of the dead are always eaten to gain their wisdom, or equivalent -- that's quite white (both in a community building and respecting enemies without showing them mercy ways :)).
Thank you.
What do you suggest? These were supposed to be ancestral spirits that you had to sacrifice to in order to gain their power.
White and blue devour just seem so odd to me. It really makes sense in the other colors... I mean, you've done a good job finding a mechanic on Ancestor of Knowledge that makes a lot of sense, and this is certainly a white mechanic, devour just doesn't sound right in White. The funny thing is that it would probably be okay if it had a different name.
I've realized that Past, Present, Protector, Destroyer, Nature, and Artifice sort of fit this challenge, so I might as well add them here.
Thumbs up for scaling Resonate. That's a nice cycle you got there.
This, though, is a tribal hoser in Mythic. I would imagine a lot of players being very upset with its existence. The card seems pretty cool, though.
Hmm. Anti-Tribal. I like it, Spike will like it, and Johnny will love it. I wonder if that's enough to get past Timmy? I don't think you could make it the set's mechanic... but maybe a side mechanic in an otherwise quasi-tribal set with plenty of tools for Timmy? I could see it.
"Slivers you control gain 'All non-sliver creatures get -1/-1'." It's a bit explosive, but, this is rare... and if you have enough slivers in play to wipe the board, then you've pretty much won. Except it sits there after the fact... that's bad, I suppose.
Maybe there needs to be some Tribal Sliver Sorceries? My line sounds like a good "For this turn only" effect.
For Challenge # 046. The other cards are Ancestor of Community, Ancestor of Knowledge, Ancestor of Slaughter, and Ancestor of Malice.

Ooh, cycles! I'm partial to my Sky Fish cycle (Sky Minnow, Sky School, and Sky Shark), but they only have evergreen keywords. For this challenge, I made two cycles: a vertical cycle around the Kindle mechanic, which I named Resonate (Nature's Strength, Accelerated Growth, and Yavimaya's Vengeance); and a horizontal cycle around devour, from Alara block (Ancestor of Community, Ancestor of Knowledge, Ancestor of Slaughter, Ancestor of Malice, and Ancestor of Survival).
