Nice. Metamorphose for spells. Reminiscent of Spellshift or Fold into Aether.
Added Unexpected Consequences.
Next name: [Engorged Fleshling]
For Challenge # 049
Not an original idea, I know, but a fun enough one.
[Unexpected Consequences]
Aah. Yes. Challenge # 033 was in a similar vein. You'd think I'd remember it, since I started it. :P
No, you're right. We didn't even have a snag with that one. I'm going to let this comment sit for a day or two before I make Challenge 49, just in case someone has any input. But I'd think 33 sets a good precedent of not worrying about it.
I'd say don't worry about it; if it branches, then it branches. Didn't we already have a response challenge?
I've got a good idea for Challenge #49, but am not sure how to implement it. The idea would be to come up with an odd name for a card, then have someone come along, make that card, and leave another odd name for a card, and on, and on.
I know I've seen this work on other websites... but posting in the forums of those other websites was often a quicker experience. Just re-type the name, add a mana cost, card type and some plithy game text and go. With the forms here, the way their set up, I assume most people take a bit more time and thought with their entries. Maybe it takes 7 minutes instead of 2? In that amount of time, there could be a multiple entry confusion.
I don't know if anyone had any idea of how to solve this, or if it even needs to be solved. I thought about just responding on the thread with the word "Locked"... just to stop someone else from working on something you're working on. Maybe something that says that 'locked' doesn't count if it's been 30 minutes plus. Maybe I'm overthinking this...
Yeah, sadly you're right.
I don't think it would do anything at all with Spellbinder. It would never get to use Spellbinder's imprint ability.
That is actually an excellent idea. In fact, I think there's great potential for a printed Equipment with Imprint that accumulates other Equipment and has all their abilities put together. Nice with things like Sai of the Shinobi, weird with Shuriken (haha, unless you add Runed Stalactite!), and brainboggling with Spellbinder.
Like. I'd also like Lightning Greaves + a piece of equipment with a cheap cost, but a high equip cost. By the time you've exiled two artifacts with this thing, I figure you deserve whatever nasty ability you can cobble together.
Great, I'll exile Lightning Greaves and Argentum Armor
Oh well. Guess I better rip off the bandage and do it. Made it all abilities instead of just activated abilities. That should at least make this some combo-player's dream card. Also added 'another target artifact' to the first ability, because you would otherwise be hosed if your opponent responded with a Shatter, and your only other artifact in play was the Storage Matrix...
Yeah, it may be a Myr Welder is as good as you're going to get. You can still pull some fun charge counter manipulation shenanigans.
In fact, if I was on the design team for New Weatherlight with this submission in it, I'd push for a Myr Welder-type solution, and also to make several of the Legacy components have abilities that untap themselves, or add mana; and have a couple gain charge counters cheaply and use them for minor things, while one or two others gain charge counters much more expensively and use them for awesome things; and so on.
Every time I come to say something about one of your cards, you've already said it.
Oh, hey. I made Sora, Navigator Extraordinaire and Pathfinder's Legacy, but I never put them here. Go figure.
Man... I'm not sure how to fix that. "Pay the cost to activate an ability on a card: Activate that ability" has got to be one of the most useless abilities that I can imagine. It ranks up there with "Whenever you attack with a creature, it can be blocked, if able."
Maybe I should give the Storage Matrix all abilities on all cards exiled by storage Matrix? At least then, you can pull together some weird combos, though, unlikely to be as broken. Not as fun, though. I wish I could fix that second ability, but there doesn't seem to be a good universal way to do it, assuming "~ cannot exile rare and mythic artifacts" wasn't allowed.
I was going to point out how gross this was with Mindslaver or Door to Nothingness, but... you already have.
Added Legacy Storage Matrix, then realized I had designed a broken card.
For Challenge # 048. I figured a strange puzzle box that stored and unpacked the new Legacy made some sense. I started with a new Safe Haven style card, and added the ability one of your stored cards from exile each turn, which gave the card a secondary use - it lets you skip expensive activations for the price of waiting a turn and tap.
I'm not really sure if this is the right cost. I'm guessing that
is probably more appropriate. I also wish I could make this card say "Except for Door to Nothingness". Hmm... door reminds me that this card doesn't sacrifice itself, even if it's part of the cost. Okay, it's broken. Mindslaver every turn is too good. I'll need to rewrite this soon and create something a bit more fair.
Well, if the red part is now in the colour; it doesn't need it in the name :)
Your wish is my command. :-)
I think it should be red.
