For Challenge # 078
Like Mugging, but using the non-canonical red bounce ability. It costs one more, but gives you more tempo advantage.
Come to think of it, a better combination might be more like Arc Trail -- either explicitly two and one, or "3 divided how you choose", but require it to hit a player so it doesn't give you the potential for a two-for-one.
Well, that's still not bad - 20 damage to opponent and mill them for 20? Yummy!
I find it funny that there's a point where this effect becomes bad again. Deal 20 damage to myself and draw 20 cards? Don't mind if I... heeeeey, waaait a minnit...
It works out a bit like Cerebral Vortex, which suggests it's reasonable but would need to cost more. I'm not sure exactly how it should be costed, in order to be balanced whether you play it on yourself or your opponent.

Ridiculously powerful combining ((C1466)) and Lightning Bolt but what the hey!!!:-)

Blazing Salvo can be pretty fun too. I remember a game where my opponent played a clutch creature, I salvoed it, he took 5, I salvoed it, he took 5, I salvoed it, he sighed and took 5 more damage. Then I Shocked it.
Well, I'm thinking of Skylasher.
Bwahahaha. I love it. Which terrifying overpowered effect do you want me to have? To a player this will usually just be a Lava Spike unless they're having a serious paranoia shortage. On a creature, though... haha, so much fun. Reminds me of Blazing Salvo, but this is much more fun.
Yeah, Lunge is probably pretty weak by modern standards.
I always liked searing blaze, and I'd not found Lunge for comparison. I feel now maybe lunge would be ok at 1R, it's no more board-affecting than shock and no more total damage than flame slash. Or maybe sorcery like Arc Trail.
Come to think of it, how come Mogg Fanatic doesn't fly? Is there a flying Mogg Fanatic?
I felt giving green a 2/2 for 2 with flying and direct damage was a bit much, but I suppose not for rare :)

Another 0-damage spell. How to do this?
OK, this combines the worst aspects of lightning bolt and dark ritual. Admittedly, neither card has very many bad aspects at all. But, you know, it's worse than lightning bolt, it must be printable, just about, right? :)
I don't know how useful it actually is when it often won't really be able to do anything. But I just like imagining those moments when your opponent is guessing whether you have something big in reserve to cast...

Hm, when I specified that range, I was thinking of 0 as a cost, not an amount of damage. If we've run out of interesting ways to do that, I think we should let ourselves re-roll any more 0-damage spells :)
