In honour of the upcoming Theros set, we have a top-down design challenge based on Norse/Viking Mythology (can include any and all scandinavian mythology - Norse/Swedish/Finnish/etc)
Ok. I messed up. It was supposed to be Gore Vassal's template. So, toughness 1 or greater.
Even for a mythic, it's a bit obvious that this wasn't supposed to be done more than once.
Mmm. So if I can target it 5 times, it shoots you on the 4th and the 5th. Of course, if I can put an extra +1 counter on it with that 4th targeting, then I hit the jackpot and get to ding you for 24 not just 16. But even 16 is pretty good. Of course, that's fine on a 5-mana gold mythic that needs another card to do it.
I should say I do love this combination of effects. If there's any way to make a mythic Aura (apart from the Genju of the Realm approach), this is it.
It wasn't a tournament staple, but when it came out it was a Johnny/Timmy favorite. When this card was in print, I swear, like half the casual deck lists I saw included her. I don't think the reason why Tamanoa didn't see the tournament scene wasn't because Tamanoa wasn't good enough... there just wasn't a good enough Naya deck in Timespiral for it to matter.
I think Mythic + creature creep does mean we can get a slightly better card than Tamanoa. But universal lifelink... hmm... I would probably call that card a 5cc rare enchantment. How that would translate into a 2/4 Mythic creature that's three colors, though, I'm not sure.
I don't think Tamanoa is that weak. I could easily see it being printed as-is as a rare in a modern set.
Blah blah blah creatures have become better and mythics are splashy just because. Tamanoa was a fun build around but a little weak compared to modern Magic. I don't think this card is unreasonable.
Now, I don't want to obsolete Tamanoa, but if I'm turning something into a mythic, I'm pretty sure I can pretend the previous card didn't exist.
Toughness.
I was kinda afraid that it would grow just too large for two mana.
I'm sure the design is not perfect, but it's partly because it's restricted by the source card for the challenge.
Hahaha. Corrected
I'd assumed it did really mean what the phrase means on Living Wish and friends, which can't get things from the exile zone any more.
Yes, I agree with both those comments.
I'd go with either jmg's suggestion, or possibly drop the cost. I could see this text box as a mythic version of Flesh Reaver.
Mmm. Perhaps the Dog deals damage to all players?
Thanks. :)
Uh... By "outside the game," do you mean exile, or do you really mean "outside the game?"
This is such a straight upgrade of Tamanoa that I would expect it to cost more.
Based on Tamanoa, I'm guessing? I like this. I hope we see it on a card someday.
If what isn't greater than 1?
Oh my. Drawbacks aren't often seen on Mythic Rares, but when they are, they're very shiny, as on Abyssal Persecutor. This card gives me pause because I'm not sure the effect is "awesome" enough for that drawback.
I doubt this enchantment is going to be blocked very often. ;-)
I got Kessig Wolf this time around and decided to blend it with Kessig Wolf Run to create the (((Kessig Wolf Alpha))) the 'king' of all the kessig wolves. And yes, he also pumps himself.
