Nice. Very sensible. Might need to be slightly more expensive, going by Wings of Velis Vel, but I guess this is often just going to be Smite so that might be okay.
Heehee, I like the formatting :)
Gideon's Edict and Gideon's Blessing
Created for Challenge # 087
Gideon doesn't do much that could be turned into a spell but "can't be attacked" is one of them. Which seems an eminently sensible spell, although it's usually "opponent skips combat phase" -- is there a good reason for that?
For Challenge # 087.
It's hard for Gideon to branch out from his signature "turn into a creature" ability. But I think it can be a spell without duplicating his ability.
Was "up to one target player and up to one target cr"
Hm. I don't like spells which don't do quite what you expect, I don't think it's a significant downside, but I think it makes feel-bad moments. However, I think that's better than the current version so we'll use that for now.
Edit: I was tempted to make it "to target permanent and its controller" so you can hit a planeswalker and a player, and I think that would be a very cool thing for Koth to do, but I don't think this is the place to play with that.
2R->1R
@jmg: good point, I'd forgotten animate land. OK, I'll try this at 1R. Even on turn two that's hopefully ok. I'd rather have an instant, but I think a sorcery is more red and more Koth.
@Darkheart: Good point, OK I like it more now, thanks.
would be good in a set with a NEW version of Koth though....
Looking at Animate Land, I'd think the cost would be fine if this was an instant. Otherwise,
is probably good.
I don't see a real need to use 'up to' here. I don't feel a real need to obsolete Spire Barrage if it isn't necessary.
I'm not sure it's 'worse than cultivate'. It puts non-basics on the table and in your hand, and fills your yard. In fact, you can play this card with no basics at all. I'd say it might be more powerful than Cultivate (not counting the cc)... assuming you're playing a two or mono color deck.
Should probably be a "Choose one or both". I know the result is longer, but it's more natural.
For Challenge # 087
This maybe shouldn't be printed in a set with Koth as it's his exact +1 ability, but it seems like, as a cross between Spark Elemental and Awakener Druid it should exist as a card. I'm not sure about the exact cost, what do you think it should be?
Koth's Hammerblow
Edit: and Koth's Awakening
For Challenge # 087
An uncommon version of Spire Barrage, because it's an iconic spell. Is it too good, what would you tweak it to?
I find it hard to tell apart the red planeswalkers, but I did my best to pick out something that felt Koth-y.
Hm, good point. It was originally more red, but went through a bunch of changes. FWIW, the reasons are a) the random element, although most colours can do that sometimes and b) that it's supposed to be gruul-ish (eg. see white cards getting extort). But I guess it could be GG.
