Excellent call. I think it's better as a creature than as a token, though if it was in the same block as Spider Spawning or Gloomwidow's Feast then yeah, it might as well be a sorcery to use the same token.
Inspired by the discussion on Screeching Spider
Green shouldn't get Hornet Sting, but what damage should it get? This is the "authorised" version of a green pinger, even though I don't think it's been printed yet.
Although actually, I think this fits green philosophically, but having 5 toughness it would be essentially the same card if it just said "
: ~ deals 1 damage to target creature". Being on a 4G 1/5 body rather than a 2R 1/1 body would be more than enough to distinguish it from red pingers.
I also wondered, maybe "1 damage, tap target" should be in green after all. It's currently in red-white, but rarely useful because red-white usually has better answers.
Hm. Maybe something like garden spider but bigger -- forest spider? brush spider?
Or maybe this should make a token, to fit with spider spawning?
Giant Spiderling? Spiderling is evidently the name of a baby spider. I couldn't get much more from a glance at Wikipedia. It's just far too much information to pile through to figure out "which spiders are small". Colloquially, though, most of the internet likes to agree that small spiders are often called "Garden Spiders"... whatever that's supposed to refer to.
Thank you! I nearly called it "Spider" but decided it was better not to. Any suggestions? I didn't want to call it "small spider" as it's still significantly bigger than a natural spider, just not giant-giant.
No idea. Four stars for you. It can still be five stars with a name change, though. I saw the name and expected a green version of Skittering Skirge or Skittering Horror...
Why doesn't this exist? :)
make him a Spirit
Travelling Road for my tweak on this idea.
Oh darn, I forgot Thespian's Stage existed. I did gatherer search for the effect. I was aiming for a landy Cryptoplasm
Interesting! Like Thespian's Stage that ETBs "tapped" rather than costing mana to use.
Miniaturization Field? Ray makes me assume it's a one-off effect.
Altered name from Attenuating Totem to Miniaturization Ray
Wow. Strong. Fascinating and rather good, but also two-sided.
Being blue is really nifty. Blue being the colour of powerless stuff; and also being the most vulnerable to great big attackers.
Inspired by "All attacking Merfolk become Golems" from the card generator :)
Creatures 'championnning' other creatures sounds weird. Personally, I think it was a poor waste of a key word.
I guess. But non-creatures "championning" things sounds weird.
I thought everyone might find this interesting, but I didn't know where else to put this: a Gatecrash Infographic.
Champion already works on non-creatures? I'm pretty sure Mistbind Clique can champion a Bitterblossom. Changeling Hero can "champion a creature", so I think something (either enchantment, creature, or anything else) could "champion an enchantment".
Toying with how you'd do Champion for non-creatures.
Oh, sorry! Then yes, I agree :)
Do we want a really good GU card draw card? Or a lukewarm GU card? Well, I think we usually want a lukewarm one. But any individual set might want a strong one. (Especially if this could be a strong colour-intensive uncommon for

.)
