Companion of the Trials nearly manages it, but not quite. Seems powerful, but maybe safe.
How easy is it to go infinite with this?
Not triggered ability for the same reasons as Adanto Vanguard: trigger reduction, and there is still plenty of time to answer it before the effect actually becomes relevant.
Fiddly is the problem. This messes with the established flow of the turn. It's easy to miss engage on an opponent's creature and declare attackers too early.
I call that this will cause misplays.
Interestingly this is not supposed to be a triggered ability... Why?
templating
So.. you get to declare a subset of blockers before they declare attackers; and if you do, those blockers get a bonus?
Fiddly. I like the idea though.
Trample can be used pretty much anywhere if the creature is big enough and of a higher rarity. Thraben Militia is mysterious though even if the set had a bunch of white cards that sacced stuff and such.
There's a couple of things that can be noted just from those cards you mention.
I think the flavor is pointing a lot to . The same flavor also made me assume that this exiled a creature card from grave... Hand seems like a weird place to exile that card from if you ask me.
It had to do with how White does this shtick, but doesn't copy abilities that aren't White. Except that isn't true. It was true for Concerted Effort (Believe it or not, Trample is considered to be in White's color pie. Just very, very rarely. At least I read that when re-reading through GDS2. Maybe because of Elephants?) But Odric, Lunarch Marshal doesn't seem to care about that, granting deathtouch, hexproof, menace, and skulk.
I also pointed out that both Majestic Myriarch and Soulflayer work with similar space (and Escaped Shapeshifter, but that card is too old to matter.) I guess the takeaway here is that Wizards hasn't really locked this ability into any one color.
@jmgariepy:
Actually, I didn't even see the comment beforehand - I just found the edit quite funny :)
I'm curious - what was it?
@Tahazzar:
It's true! My comment would have been right 10 years ago. I'm getting old.
It could be white theme (teaming up) or blue theme (cloning, ability theft).
Also, wow, flyspeck text on a card which doesn't even seem that good. Maybe it should cantrip, so you're at least not giving up three cards when your opponent kills off the thing you enchant?
@jmgariepy:
You're wrong, you know.
Edit: My comment was wrong, but can't be deleted. Consider this comment not here.
Everything about this card screams to me.
Sadly I can't write the ability in once piece because it causes the creature to gain +1/+1 for each keyword XD
The type of the "plus one" should be specified. You will notice Anointed Procession says "of those" to clarify the additional tokens are not just any type but mirror the created types.
Why is that important? Because with the correct wording you can clarify whether you get only a forth token of one of the three types or an additional type of each of the types from Bestial Menace.
Your choice is between Winding Constrictor and Animation Module/proliferate.
Possible fixes:
Variant A:
Variant B:
I think blue is totally a color that can pull of populate. It's a matter of the environment, really. Generally white is the best token producer. Green gets this because they are good with creatures in general and blue is good at making copies.
But I wouldn't even exclude it from a gold card containing red or black as secondary if a set theme is supported by it - similarly to how Corpsejack Menace makes more sense in its environment.
Why is this ? Given all we know with populate and Anointed Procession / Parallel Lives it looks like this should be or .
name typo
forgot flying
Hmm, I envisage fights along the lines of "I still control it" "But it's on the way to the graveyard!" "Sure, but it's not there yet!"
Which is unfortunate in a common.
Unfortunate that this is strictly worse than Oblivion Ring / Banishing Light, but that is sometimes necessary for limited. Silkwrap and Suspension Field are strictly worse than Journey to Nowhere but still passable in limited.
Chowlett's Augury (as on Rhox Conscript) was nicknamed scrycling, yep. He gave it the extra parameter, fixed at 3 in his first set, which makes it much better than scry 1 (to the point of being dubious colour-pie-wise for red and white). By contrast, this card is currently much worse than Temple of Mystery except for rather niche cases.
