"Two-for-one issue" of the researchers / drake? It seems this is just as susceptible to two-for-ones with Murder as any Aura-based card. What your wording protects against is a Shock before the Mythic Proportions arrive, which makes some degree of sense, although in the Researchers' case the opponent doesn't necessarily know what's in your hand.
But that's like the opposite of preventing two-for-ones: if the Academy Researchers die before their trigger resolves, you still keep the Aura in hand waiting for the next opportunity to use it. Likewise the Drake is never at risk of a two-for-one because its ability is pure card advantage anyway.
BTW, where are you meant to reveal the Aura card from? I assumed your hand, but it doesn't actually say.
Actually, you'll notice my version is specifically designed to get around both the two-for-one issue of the researcher/drake and the ridiculously complicated wording of the mage by having both the creature and aura ETB together.
It's Academy Researchers! Not to be confused with Iridescent Drake. Or Auratouched Mage or Boonweaver Giant.
blargh XD stupid night shifts are turning my bbrain to mush
"Whenever an aura becomes attached?"
rm "additional"
was " Whenever you cast an aura with enchant creature, you may pay an additional . If you do, put a +1/+1 counter on the creature that aura is enchanting."
I wanted a cast trigger because cast triggers are cool, but that is the more sensible wording XD.
Nice! It's good to have another aura-friendly card. Could it be "Whenever you attach an aura to a creature you control"?
Reminds me of Peppersmoke. Quite a lot better, but being sorcery helps rein it in a bit.
I like simple cards.
Yeah, this ability ranges all over the rarity and P/T plot fairly independently. It's at common (Gemhide Sliver, Opaline Unicorn, Axebane Guardian, Scuttlemutt), uncommon (Manaweft Sliver, Alloy Myr) and even rare (Utopia Tree, Beastcaller Savant, Rattleclaw Mystic, and of course Birds of Paradise). The rares and uncommons aren't notably bigger than the commons.
I don't know. I figure you could reprint Leaf Gilder in any set as an uncommon. It always struck me as a strong limited card. Gatherer calls it a 2.55 though. I suppose as long as Llanowar Elves exist, people will always downvote the 2-cost elves.
Maybe should be a 1/2 or even 2/2 to really justify the rarity hike...
Nice. Looks better than Druid of the Anima or Urborg Elf, but it's also worse than Manaweft Sliver.
FWIW Duneblast has shown that destroying all-but-one creature is an absolute blowout and is very strong at 7 mana in three colours. This is 5 in two colours and better in three other ways too.
