Archconjurer of the Unseen
Vedalken Wizard
Brain token
Creature: Human Wizard
NTC 042: Adept of the Mirror
Token = Awakened Refection
Ooh, I like the fish premise. Although I realised I kept making the same mistake and implying the separate creatures became the token. I wonder if something like "cloud of krill"/"rising whale" would get the same flavour that there could be more than one summoned by the same originals?
Ooh! I finally got one!
School of Fish
Creates a token called Merged Megalodon
Clumsy Gatecrasher
Noggle Rogue
Giant Creature Token called "Perfectly Normal Traveller in a Large Trenchcoat"
OK, that one would be silver-border :)
Gale Chaser
Human Wizard
Elemental
Trying to design a card which DOESN'T imply the five all merge into one
It's intentional you can do this every turn. The thought process being that if you do get five of them out, the game should end quickly, or an appropriate answer needs to come fast.
Jace's Facet. Creature - Avatar Legendary Blue Avatar Creature Token called Beleren.
Btw, I assumed it was deliberate that you could do it more than once but I assumed you were supposed to have to control the creatures.
I felt like something must break this but nothing stood out. I'm not even sure it's the best creature to have four of :) Maybe in a silver bordered name changing deck :)
Giant Robotic Rhinoceros
I'll form the head.
Welcome back to Name That Card! Today we have a creature that theoretically asks for the impossible. But in practice, all you really need to do is Clone as many times as necessary to crank out monsters. Or, alternatively, you can do this in draft. Unfortunately, I made the stats aggresively good so most blue players would pick this over most commons. But maybe you'll get lucky and draft five of these? Stranger things have happened.
Hexproof was added, because I really didn't want a person who was working hard to finally get the fifth creature on the table be denied with a pocket creature kill spell. But what it needs now is a name, a creature type, and a creature type for the token it produces. Have at it!
I tried to give Vitenka some support by supplying the name 'Auburn Twintails' for his 'twin' ability name. But when it came time for me to act as tiebreaker, I couldn't vote for my own entry. So Froggychum's Twin Ballista won this round.
See everybody in (((NTC #042)))!
Thank you Alex!
I think Enhancing Enchantments was the discussion in question that jmgariepy mentioned in the OP, by the way.
Voting is now up! Choose your favorite card/mechanic name here!
I like Facsimile for the mechanic name, but I think Replica is a slightly better word.
As for the card name, how about something silly like Doppelblaster :)
A second, less silver-bordered suggestion is Twin Ballistas
The ability name is "Twin" and it lets you explicitly say things like "If ~ is a twin..." and "If ~ has a twin".
I don't have a good cardname for that though.
Conflagration Field
Barrage --
Obviously barrage only works if the mechanic gets used on violent-y cards, but that's a possible interpretation, it doesn't have to be an "all enchantments" mechanic the first time it appears.
Card name: Spreading Flames
Mechanic name: facsimile (I wish echo wasn't taken)
Welcome back to Name That Card!
We were recently talking about how to make enchantments relevant again (though I can't figure out where, so if someone else can link to the convo, that would be great.) Here's part of my take. We have to stop being afraid of printing seals, ala Seal of Strength. I think a lot of people have in their heads that enchantments shouldn't become sorceries/instants because that's what sorceries/instants do. But creatures roughly swallowed up the role of enchantments some time around Legions. It's only fair for enchantments to dig into another card type's space.
Today's card features something that an enchantment can do well: hang around on the battlefield until it's needed later. The result is somewhat similar to flashback, except you get to pay in installments and the card doesn't hide in the graveyard.
But the keyword mechanic needs a name, as well as the card. Whatchu got?
🕺
Link picks up this one, as Exchange Program squeaks ahead of a five way tie for second.
See you all in (((NTC #041)))!
Snuck them in under the wire. ;)
Polling is now open! Vote for your favorite name here!
Rebirth of Heroes
Goblin Nursery
Exchange Program, perhaps?
Ach! Both my best names were duplicates!
Okay, well here's two replacement names:
: Cathartic Vacation (might be too similar to Cathartic Reunion, which is also a good name for this card!)... vacation's also not a very strong word, lmao. I was tempted to just call this Catharsis, and after looking, no card has used that name! Hurray!
: Sleeping Agency (probably too similar to Sleeper Agent), so perhaps a new flavor is in order Irrational Telepathy or Paranoid Telepathy? The flavor text/art is a near-omniscient mind-mage (psionic) absolutely OBSESSING over the few things he doesn't know, which are how loyal his subordinates are to him... could be neat, methinks.
