Changed the activate cost to .
I have tried to mix up the Illuminate cards a bit - some care about the colour of the Illuminated card, some mana symbols and some CMC
Coo. Very unpredictable ability: sometimes it'll do nothing, sometimes it'll be absolutely crazy. I fear this should be at least 2 mana to activate.
Actually, when I saw this, I thought "Why didn't he make it a 3/4? That way, despite the fact that Dawn Elemental would be the better all around creature, this creature would trump it." That philosophy, however, may not be a sane approach. Use with caution.
I think I was hung up on the two having a fight as this negates the dawn elemental's ability. Thinking of changing flying on this to Shadow, Intimidate or something else more "dark" oriented.
I don't think this would be overpowered at 3/3. Four coloured mana is a lot, and a typical creature gets dealt damage a lot more than its damage gets prevented. So Dawn Elemental is stronger than this. Dawn is a hard-to-kill flyer, where this is just a random flyer that'll occasionally kill something it otherwise wouldn't have.
Dawn Elemental is a direct reprint of Dawn Elemental. I designed this to be its "opposite number" but I think it is a bit stronger though which is why I dropped its toughness by a point.
Iam actually much happier with this now, thanks for the inspiration and yes, you got exactly where I stole the idea from :-)
Dropped cost and removed flying to differentiate it a bit more from the overseer.
That's because it is extremely similar to Stronghold Overseer. That card was my inspiration for this one, I just had to find a flavour that fit the setting; hence this being a shade and only pumping itself.
Hm. Wirewood Elf that can also play Selesnya Signet. Yes, that's interesting.
Seems extremely similar to Stronghold Overseer.
