"Bumpkin" is a term I've only seen used in media in reference to a translation of Asian words meaning "hillbilly", hence the usage here.
Two cards,

, destroy target creature? A nifty combo, that players will feel smart when they spot - but hardly world-shaking. Keep it.
Note to self: Strong with (((Foretelling Fu))). Might be okay to leave in.
added "you control"
Changed slot. Now Dual Shot + Nightbird's Clutches instead of Tiny Ravaging Blaze.
Mana Cylix with the Mind Stone treatment. Mostly just fixing for decks that want it. Aggressive Bequeath and Monstrous decks won't need the fixing, but Talisman and other slower decks might want the splash.
This feels like it could be Green or Black. I'm pushing aggression and Voltron a bit in Black this set, so this may be incredibly powerful or just okay. I'm cautiously keeping this in the slot for now.
Better Frost Ogre, but thats not saying much. I figure rather than pushing power towards Bequeath creatures in Red, I'll push it towards cards that want bequeath abilities.
Tai Yun is the tentative name for the Monkey King expy.
You mean making equipment a central theme of the set, or do you mean having the creatures with bequeath create equipment tokens and attach them onto themselves? Both seem equally unappealing to me.
I'd say this is a much cleaner implementation of bequeath. To the level of "Do this instead"
Not so sure about this design, with the existence of Bequeath in this set. Does this add to the complexity (having to move around an equipment in addition to {+} abilities), take the thunder from Bequeath away, or add to it and reinforce the theme of passing things down? Looking for opinions.
"Why is this not an Aura?" you might ask? Excellent question.
Not sure I'll use this design and Superior Swordsmanship yet, I'll see how reception to these ideas and the School cycle ( School of the Crane ). Might be relegated to 2nd set if at all.
There are a lot of spells in this set that add +1/+1 counters to creatures. Since I'm not sure how much P/T increases I want to shovel onto Bequeath, I'll need another way for non-Monstrous creatures to get bigger to compete. Hence adding random +1/+1 counter riders to spells so you can grow certain creatures over the course of the game.
Kind of a placeholder reprint for now. Might bump this up to 6 damage to creatures only + bonus, but we'll see. Red needs something to eliminate large blockers. Flavor text would be something about fireworks regardless of whether this is a reprint or a new card.
Slight change to fit it to a skeleton slot. Now haste 1 drop that can be a hasty 3/3 for 5, or just upgraded later.
Adjusting the slot slightly to make this a 2/1. Feels fairly strong for a 2-drop now, but might be less strong than 2/1 Bequeath Menace. Maybe better? Lots of 3+ toughness creatures hopefully means this is okay.
Good point. Rearranging some slots slightly to make this fit better at 1 CMC.
Changing slots around for balance.
Whelp wasn’t that strong, but significantly powering it up at the same time as downshifting it is a little much.

Keeping with the trend of "Red gets other colors' things but worse", here's Red Sigil Blessing.
Most of the time it will be somewhat comparable to Trumpet Blast, but I wanted to encourage voltroning things to drafters. Since adding Pyroclasm at common is a no-go, I'm using positive reinforcement instead.
Better Centaur Courser. Not only have there been exactly zero panda cards in MTG history, but there are only 19 creatures with the type Bear. Pretty sad, tbh.
"Fangshi" is the term I want to use here, because this doesn't roll off the tongue as well. The comparison to make is Mnemonic Wall, but this doesn't give card advantage, so I feel like it's okay at this cost. Feel free to argue otherwise.
This turtle race use their shells as books or something. Couldn't resist making a shellbook/spellbook pun.
