i based it off the card Sacrifice, thought this was good....
Maybe a rare is too much, will edit.

I sometimes make inefficient creatures as filler to get my mind going, and inspire to do more on these sets

I like the flavour text. Especially like that when these mammoths fight each other it isn't to the death. That's a nice touch.
Fine - though under the curve for today's creatures. You'd expect a 3/3 or 2/4. Don't you have a strictly better card in this set or another?
Not exciting enough for rare. I'd also go easier on the mana cost since the real cost here seems to be the sacrifices.
The ability lies in red's slice of the color pie. It also makes less sense on an "Ice Spirit". Maybe something tapping related?
I'd go for a more toughness-heavy p/t e. g. 1/4
