Mechanics | Districts of Kestner

Ulterior motive: If this creature would deal combat damage to a player, you may instead have it deal PARAM1 damage to a creature that player controls. Used on 14 cards: The Hebret Brothers, Fungal Floater, Pigmented Ooze, Forest Animist, Hawk-Eyed Dragon, Loping Warthog, Banded Crusher, Siren's Scout, Freakish Lightning, Bulky Conspirator, Trinket of Possibility, Cove Scrounger, Bonehoard Mystic, Fleet-Footed Scamp

Kind of the opposite of Afflict

Experience counters: A player with one or more experience counters is experienced. Used on 1 cards: Blink

From Commander 2015. Also adding reminder text and various boosts that happen when a player is experienced.

under cover: A creature is under cover as long as no opponent controls a creature with less power. Used on 13 cards: Follower of Aglar, Lurking Vindicator, Bone-Clad Survivor, Brigmore Suppressor, Secret Ritual, Vagarious Mystic, Carnal Hunger, Dungeon Fatigue, Aglar, Master Assassin, Skittering Rootfinder, Unclean Zombie, Graveyard Robber, Garrett, Skillful Pilferer

A common mechanic in Dishonored, Thief, and Darkest Dungeon is the way characters sneak through the dark or behind people's backs. Being under cover is my way of bringing this into Magic.

Spare: Whenever a creature dealt damage by this one this turn dies, you may return that creature to its owner’s hand. If you do, you gain life equal to that creature’s toughness. Used on 20 cards: Cieran the Merciful, Attention Diverter, Flavian Ambassador, Shaman Necromancer, Shopkeep Sentinel, Tyvian Judiciary, Callous Preacher, Political Pawn, Brigmore Witch, Weald Bat, Skilled Boatswain, Abbey Ascetic, Curio Hunter, City Watch Recruiter, Serpentile Spitter, Blood Ox, Passive Apparition, Gentle Courser, Pelgovian Bull, Kin of Odessa

Flavorfully represents the way Dishonored has nonlethal options in every mission. This offers options to players that they usually wouldn't have in other Magic sets.

In card text or details pages, write the mechanic's code name (playtest name) between square brackets, like "[Crittercast]", "[Bushido 1]" or "[Delay 4 {2}{R}{R}]". It will be expanded to the mechanic's name plus reminder text, such as "Suspend 4 – {2}{r}{r}. (Rather than cast this spell from your hand,...)"
To expand a mechanic's name but not its reminder text, include parentheses at the end of the square brackets: "[Crittercast()]", "[Delay 9 {R}()]".
