  So I'm envisaging:

  • When you create a cardset or a card, you automatically "subscribe" to it
  • Profile has new option "Subscribe to anything I comment on [ ]"
  • When something happens to something you're subscribed to (edits or comments), a "message" gets stored for you. This will
  • get stored on-site in a list of "responses" like StackExchange sites have, accessed via /users/1/responses.
  • When you browse direct to the thing you're being notified about (the cardset comments page in case of cardset comments), all messages about that item get "marked as read" and disappear from the responses page
  • After you visit the responses page, all messages that existed at that point are marked as read.

  The second stage will add:

  • Profile has new option "Get emailed on responses: [immediately] [daily] [never]"
  • When something happens to something you've subscribed to, your message will also get sent by email if you've selected that option.

  Does that sound like that'd meet what people want?

  It'll take a bit of doing - at least a month, likely more - but it's a reasonable proposal.

  Sensible suggestion. Would take significant infrastructure, but it would make the site a lot more usable. Similar to Get emailed when things happen, and wants to share infrastructure with it.

  If I were to move the site from Heroku's free plan to something else, I might start allowing images to be stored on-site. But since I've already gone the external hosting route for card art and whole-card images and watermarks, it'd seem odd to break from that tradition for the fourth kind of user-specifiable image.

  Sounds good to me. Though, alerting people when they log into the site that some one responded on a card they commented on would be more personally useful.

  I'm sure you're hurting for space already, and remote hosting is probably more sensible for several reasons; but remember you can store binary files as BLOBs in a database. Paperclip plugin is the one for that, I think.

  Although anyone using IE 8 or earlier should really, really try visiting Multiverse in Firefox, Safari or Chrome. It looks soo much better.

  This would let us provide faction marks like in the Scars of Mirrodin block cards like Steady Progress, guild watermarks like in Ravnica block cards like Dimir Guildmage, and mana symbols on basic lands like Island.

  At the moment you can use the "Plain" tab at top-left to see the text, but that means you lose the nice formatting. This isn't a high priority, but it would be nice.
