Does it really need to kill you on your end step? You're going to mill out next turn anyway, and now there's a potential Johnny element to it
Also, this name is taken. Contract from Below
I'm pretty sure it's a play on that existing card. I agree that explicitly killing you is quite unnecessary when it's already so much guaranteed with that second phrase unless you play some quirky combos (Obstinate Familiar, Mirror of Fate). Shutting those down makes the card less interesting.
Drawing six cards while keeping your hand is still too much for one mana. You can play this in the final turn of your combo going of and be quite comfortable with it.
Yeah, it definitely should exile the hand as well. That's very easy to add into the effect as it already exiles library and grave.
Well, you have to exile your hand before you draw, but exile your library after. The timing makes it messy
This is indeed insanely strong if you can build around it. Or just if you're down to the last few cards in your library.
Wording-wise; howabout:
Exile your hand. The top six cards of your library are your new hand; exile the rest of your library.
As a side note, "Exile your hand" is just begging for "Mr Tickle" artwork.
Could this work?
> "Draw six cards, then exile all other cards in your hand, all cards from your library, and all cards from your graveyard."
Maybe make exiling your hand an additional cost to cast the spell?
And I agree on not been sure why you also need to add losing the game at beginning of the next end step since that's going to happen 99% of the time anyway.
Seems like you guys are forgetting about Laboratory Maniac. A two card combo for 2UB for a turn 3-4 win in Modern? Maybe even turn 1-2 in Legacy / Vintage? IDK, personally, I don't think you should deal with the devil. It's probably still too strong even with the 'double lose' clause. Maybe needs something like "discard down to 3 cards", then exile library and yard.
You need another effect to actually draw the card that would trigger the Maniac. Otherwise, it gives your opponent a turn to remove to maniac - and if they do, then you lose the game.
I'm quite sure Legacy+ formats have stronger combos going for them.
Yeah, it's not like Legacy or Vintage formats have cheap / free counterspells for protection, or cheap / free draw spells...
You're right, they have cheap/free removal to kill Lab Man and cheap/free counters to make sure the kill spell resolves. I see no problem
Cards that seem worth mentioning: Doomsday and Final Fortune.
Drawing 6 cards for
seems better than taking an extra turn for
. But I'm pretty sure printing a better card than Final Fortune isn't neccesarily broken, so shrug emoji.
There are a lot of Doomsday decks floating around Legacy. Of course, that card sets up the perfect combo out of your library. But you still have to draw those cards. I'm not sure if this card is better than that card, but I do find it interesting how similar they feel.
Oh, also combining Doomsday and this version of Contract from Below sounds great, but it will kill you when you fail to draw card 6. Still probably worth it if you can put a card on top of your library.
