Oh, that's great, I like both your cards. An obvious idea, but clearly both simple and rare. I remember the {} cost cards, and there ought to be a creature version, but I'd completely not thought of it.

The loss of suspend is balanced by extra creature-tutoring and -reanimation compared to that of the other {} spells.

ETA: In fact, they probably deliberately avoided it for that reason: this is probably broken with, eg, Green Sun's Zenith, if you can pay {g} for an 8/8 lifelink on turn 1, but that doesn't prevent it going into non-standard sets.

For that reason, I considered making it smaller than 8/8. I'm not sure if there's a balance point of "fair" or not, but it's really just a concept creature.

This is for Challenge # 005, by the way.

Yeah. I don't think there'd be a good balance point. It doesn't matter for the eternal formats, where there's tutoring/animation which ignores the cost completely, and there's plenty of ridiculous behemoths to tutor for. But in standard, it probably can't be much more than 3/3 and still be fair, which makes it startlingly less impressive any other time.

One option would be to do smoething like "power and toughness equal to double the number of lands you control" which is always very impressive, but never a complete blow-out, although it doesnt' fit this challenge as neatly?

Well, you have to keep in mind that this wouldn't be in the current standard. It would be in a completely different environment.

Yeah. I think it's right to judge non-wizard sets/card by the hypothetical standard they would be in. But (though I don't really know) I guess that standard will often have some way of putting low-casting cost creatures into play. Indeed -- there would need to be some ways, because that's what makes this fun :)

It would be a lot less broken with Elvish Piper or Mist-Veined Mysterieur than Green Sun's Zenith, though.

Utterly fascinating! A lot more interesting than I was expecting any of the cards for this challenge to turn out, simply because of the challenge's restrictions :)

Thank you. :)

This was vaguely inspired by creatures with 0 toughness that don't come with +1/+1 counters. I designed one myself, then realized Wizards had one, too: Force of Savagery.

That's funny. This immediately reminded me of Force of Savagery. I also don't think the card needs to be nerfed for cards that won't intereact with it in block. In fact, my first thought was "Couldn't this be bigger? Wouldn't there be another creature you can zombify in set that will be bigger than this?". I do agree with Jack, though. Any block that has this in it should find some way of 'cheating' into play by using its low cc. It just should be a fair way to cheat.

Looking back... Holy cow, I've been on this site for two years? And no one batted an eye at green lifelink?
