Idea I had while messing with my current set of the quarter. Is this broken? Utterly degenerate? Arms-race-y? Too much like Hypergenesis?

I'm not sure. I don't think WotC has ever printed an effect like this... On the one hand, comparisons to Fast Bond and Channel come to mind... but on the other hand, it costs 5 to get this guy out and he dies to everything... should he even be a mythic? I'm so confused lol

I feel like it's definitely mythic in terms of weirdness alone. I also hadn't considered you can use this in EDH with a buddy and give him and yourself infinite mana, so it'd probably need tweaking if it wants to get anywhere close to printable status.

Technically, the card has a precendent with Benthic Explorers. As such, my mind casually associates the mechanic with blue... but there's no real reason for the effect to be blue. To be honest, I think there's an argument for this mechanic in White (I help you, and you help me.) But, yeah, it's probably best in Green.

Also, I wouldn't use Benthic Explorers to gauge power level. 1997 is too far a distance to use it as a basis for anything.

Trade Secrets was banned, so this would be too

This doesn't translate to Trade Secrets at all. Cost, effect, and color are all different. Only thing they share is helping the opponent as a cost and only on a really abstract mechanical level.

Very cool card btw!

Well, trade secrets was banned in multiplayer because two players could collude to draw their entire decks. This would be the same, for infinite mana reasons.

Yeah; even "an opponent controls" doesn't fix it in some environments.

In normal two player magic it's really interesting though. (While still scary-good, it's kinda one-sided mana flare)

Yeah, collusion is an issue to be aware of. Might still be printable
