See Esh, the Mornsire. Ideally this would be an online-only mechanic, but I guess this could be done with those stickers like the ones that they did for the Hero cards in Theros block. {w}, {u} and {g} would get positive moveable abilities, while {r} and {b} could get negative ones (i.e. + At the beginning of your upkeep, you lose 1 life.)

The + ability concept is probably the best idea to come out of those cards, but it is quite a memory issue.

I wouldn't use stickers - those are a bit too permanent - but I could see using punch-out tokens like the "Embalmed" / "Exerted" ones Amonkhet had.
