It sounds like, if my life total is 10 or 30 this will enter with 10 counters, is that correct? Have there been been any card before that care about a difference like that?
That is correct.
I don't believe there is a check that looks for either difference. All current look for one or the other. I don't think mechanically or mathematically it is a problem as you can't put negative counters of type on an object (ignoring -1/-1 counters). Since there is literally no other text on the mythic card I don't think it is as big of a problem as it could be.
