Clearly, we need a 8/10 uncommon called "Hungry Hungry Hippos".
This is for a blue vanilla slot, by the way. Turns out this exact stat hasn't been done. And this is the first time since Bull Hippo.

Does blue really get 4/5 vannilas at common now? This feels way off.
It gets better. Benthic Giant
@Inanimate that's a card. At CMC5 common, blue gets the rare big-with-downside card (Floodtide Serpent, Leyline Phantom, Whimwader) and on one occasion got a 4/2 double scoop french vanilla (Whirlwind Adept), but mostly it gets 3-power evasive creatures.
The only modern vanillas it ever got at that cost are 2/5s.
True. But it's not against blue's color pie to have creatures fair for their cost. Blue's weakness is its inability to permanently deal with creatures; this doesn't violate that weakness. It's a bleed, but not a drastic one.
Now, is it the best vanilla for blue? Probably not. But it's tough to find a better design for this cost. 3/5 might just be better.
This should definitely not be this big. Compare to Ancient Carp, Armored Cancrix
I would accept 3/5
Silent Artisan, Great-horn Krushok
3/5 is SOOOOOO BADDDDDDDD
Well, blue does not really get vanillas that are a) good or b) equal to or better than white's. That's how the color pie crumble. Deal with it.
I agree with most of this reasoning. The card was intentionally pushed but probably too much so.
It there a reason we want a pushed blue creature at common? Is this a set where blue should be more creature focused than average?
Made into a contender.
It was pushed just as an experiment for the playtest. I was curious to see how cheap a 'big' blue creature could be, that's all.
4/5-->3/5
Makes sense
Bastion Mastadon from Kaladesh says making this a 4/5 is probably fine
