So this doesn't feel weird with the low power two or less matters archetype, could this care about toughness instead?

I would do cmc before toughness although I could see an argument for not mentioning cmc if we want the same effect at common.

I think this is fine. Do note that it also interacts positively with the 2 power or less archetype too, if you play it with other black members of that archetype. :)

Good point. It still feels weird to care about a different number though.

How about stealing up to two creatures with power 2 or less. That would hit often enough with all the thopters around.

Gets a little scary then, doesn't it? Certainly works better in the sac combo deck, though.

We could let the opponent choose the creature. Usually giving the opponent choice can add complication and disappointment, but if you can get value from sacrificing a creature it is nice to have an ability that is cheap and doesn't require narrow criteria.

How about stealing two weaklings, and Haste instead of Deathtouch?

its no longer black then. I suspect the current design will be fine.
