I never know how appropriate it is to comment on old challenges when you've got a critique. Specifically, I was going to point out that this card is almost always better than Mana Leak, which seems a little too strong. But, whatevs. I like the card anyway.

It should say "each player MAY draw a card." Now THAT'S getting political! You may also wish to cost it at maybe {1} more, too, for balance. Or make the {1} a {u}. And jmgariepy, I really hope you mean that THIS card seems too powerful, and not Mana Leak.

Heh. I was talking about this card, not Mana Leak. I'm still not sold that Forbidden Commerce is technically broken, but it sure does seem weird quasi-obsoleting one of the best printable counterspells out there.

I do like the may clause, though. That's a cute way to force something through.

Hmm. I don't think this is better than Mana Leak. Mana Leak doesn't give your opponent(s) cards. I feel like this wouldn't be that great at {2}{u} except in multiplayer. Maybe {u}{u} would be acceptable?
I didn't like the idea of "may" at first, but it's growing on me.

In a two player game, a card that draws everyone a card and counters a spell is very good. It's exactly what the control player wants to do. Who cares if your opponent is drawing more cards? You're drawing more counterspells. Ideally, blue wants to waste as much time as possible until it reaches its endgame. The traditional way to do that is to counter a spell every turn. If Blue can do that, then it doesn't matter wha the opponent is drawing and casting.

On the flip side, it's terrible for aggressive blue decks. Traditional Affinity from 2003 loved packing 4x Mana Leaks to stop the occasional Wrath of God from ruining its game. A card that lets your opponent draw into another answer is terrible, since you're already winning.

But if you're playing Blue, you're more likely to play control. And while 'everyone draw a card!' doesn't sound threatening, it's definitely an advantage.

Added may.

I suppose you're right. I do wish this could stay at {1}{u}, but even with the clause I now realize it's better than Mana Leak.
