Created for Challenge # 108, because my interpretation of this art seems to be different to everyone else's. When I look at this picture, I can't help but see the structures in the background as legs and feet of a giant robot, mirroring the pose of the girl. "Where I walk, the gargantuan walks too." So I went for a mechanical representation of that.
The first attempt at this effect would be something similar to Quicksilver Gargantuan, which has similar art. But I wanted to capture something of the idea that in order for this giant mech to move, the ordinary girl has to move as well. Hence the Geist of Saint Traft-style effect.
Ooh, lovely. I didn't see that in the art at all, but now you say it, it fits really well.
This feels so close to a lovely combo with Breath of Fury but I'm pretty sure there's no way to get it work :)
Simic Guildmage plus two mana creatures does the job, I think? Attach Breath of Fury to the Mecha before combat damage happens, then the untap gives you 2 mana to move it to the next Mecha...
All these different interpretations of this one piece of art are pretty damn cool. I'm almost afraid to show people what the non-cropped version is (which I found after the fact) or tell people that this image comes from the updated artwork of a well-known piece of sci-fi (which I also found out after the fact.) Maybe we'll let it sit for a little while and see if one more person picks up something different from the art first?
