Is this a sensible thing to do? Probably not, but I was thinking of which two-colour decks want dual lands the most, and it's low-curve aggro decks with lots of , , , and costs. This helps them out, at the cost of being useless for curving out at higher costs.
Originally it said you could only spend this one mana on coloured mana, but that made it basically a no-drawback dual land, unless you needed to cast a splash spell, or you had several of these and no normal lands, which didn't seem enough of a drawback. OTOH, I'm uncomfortable spelling out that you can use this on but not , rather than letting you choose for yourself how much risk to assume. Suggestions?
I don't think ALL dual lands should be named after guilds, but for casual designs, it's a really, really helpful way of remembering which land is which -- it's hard to cram the concept of "red/black" into an innovative not-used-before name, but easy to throw "Rakdos" before another word.
Hee. Yes, seems pretty Rakdos. Quite a harsh drawback; as you say, it becomes virtually useless late-game. I wonder whether this could actually be rainbow rather than just two colours.
Oh, though this does work well for powering abilities such as firebreathing or Rix Maadi Guildmage's, which definitely helps.
See Challenge # 107.
